La Michoacana Jax - Mexican Snacks and Ice Cream — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Ordered a "mangonada" and wanted a "tamarindo" popsicle with it (like I had a previous time I came) but the girl that fixed it gave all mango flavor including the popsicle. After she fixed it I asked her why didn't she put a tamarindo popsicle in it and she said: "We only do that if you ask for it at the beginning" and continue to walk to the cash register. I guess I thought they would put it there without me asking for it cause the first time the other lady did and I LOVED it. I was still fine with it until....she charged me.

She told me it was $10.21 and I handled her $11.00. She promptly took the money and opened the register, neatly placed the bills where they belonged and when it came time to reach for the .79 cents she just slammed the cash register, looks at me and goes: "Sorry, but I don't have any change, but it's ok, it's only 79 cents!" Like....HUH??? Excuse me? So she decided that she wouldn't give me my change back because and I quote: "It's only 79 cents" Young lady, how about you let the customer know first that you are out of change, or coins or whatever BEFORE you close the register and decide you will keep the change. What kind of customer service is that?

I looked at her and I said, "No, ma'am, you will open the register, give me back my dollar and I will give you the 21 cents, thank you" She didn't like that one bit and reluctantly handed me the dollar bill. It seems she is used to doing this to people. I'm sorry but you don't get to decide to keep ur customer's money. This really rubbed me the wrong way. Totally different experience from the first time and NOT...

This place is cute! A wide variety of flavors of paletas and ice cream. I was a little disappointed in the lack of flavors of aguas frescas. I asked if I could have 1/2 strawberry and 1/2 horchata and they said no, so I got a medium of both. They were ok—very very sweet! The horchata tasted like a premade mix, not authentic. I also tried a sample of ice cream which had good flavor but the texture indicated it had been thawed and refrozen a few times. Staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. I would definitely go back again to give it another chance! Maybe...

Was excited to try this place out. The place was clean, spacious, and the aesthetic is nice. There were only two workers and we were helped by one that was dismissive, she didn’t wear a mask so we were able to see her facial expressions. The other worker was informative and talkative. The lady that assisted us never greeted or smiled and did not really talk to us just nods. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but was disappointed by the customer service. The dessert was delicious and would def recommend checking this place out. Hopefully the staff is...
