I find the new kiosks distressing....cold and impersonal. I refuse to utilize these in favor of interacting with an actually person at the counter. As the restaurant was very slow, and I waited for my food, I had a brief discussion with an assistant manager in which I voiced my concerns -- primarily replacing people [desperately needed jobs] with machines, as well as depersonalizing the dining experience. She was quick (and grinning from ear to ear) as she enthusiastically pointed out the [deeply dubious] "benefits" and happily assured me that the kiosks in no way had a negative impact on job opportunities, but created MORE jobs. Quite intrigued and genuinely interested by her assertions, I asked her to explain. Her eye twitched, and the 'game show host' smile faltered. She fumbled the ball and made quite an awkward and urgent bolt to the safety of the kitchen.
One thing she might have said, had her brain avoided total doglock, is that with the installation of the kiosks, McDonalds staff members bring your order to your table when ready. This has the potential to mitigate the cold depersonalization now pervasive in all Jacksonville McDonalds....but at THIS location [I've visited 3 times since the changes and never again], each of my servers have been sullen, obviously resentful, saying little if anything. The last time, the server all but threw my food on the table.

Read moreI would just like to say that I had a bad experience last week at this McDonalds that I have been coming to for the last 20+ years. But, I also need to say that I just had one of the best experiences that I have ever had at this same McDonalds and that is because of a phone call that I just received From Mrs. Angie. She was so kind and reassured me that what had happened was corrected and I feel that she did not have to do that. But, she did and I need to correct what I said about this establishment. Sometimes there are days that employees have days where they have to cover multiple areas and I understand that it gets frustrating. Believe me, I have been there! I believe that that is what was happening last week. Does it make it right, No! But, the situation was corrected and people were trained about how to handle this type of situation. Mrs. Angie did just that! She was awesome!! I would definitely recommend this McDonalds to each and everyone that I come in contact with! I was born here in Jacksonville and I have always come to this McDonald’s since it has been at this location. I think we as customers also need to understand that employees also have bad days and they try their best to cope with the situation at hand and with that I apologize to Eddie for reacting the way I did. I have had time to think about a lot since last Friday. I will definitely keep coming back to...
Read moreUpdate: every time I make the mistake of getting hungry enough to have to go here usually on a weekend I have hope until I get there. Upon arrival I am reminded that getting that hungry was a bad idea. This is the worst McDonald’s in the continental United States or has to be close. Every person I saw receive their food got an apology: sorry for the wait. I wonder if anyone that works there or in management gets tired of saying that. Take two: ordered a deluxe quarter pounder with cheese for a regular. I actually waited long enough to get my food ( if it was drive through I would have just left and let them take my money which maybe what they want) but I was so disappointed I lost my appetite and didn’t eat it. Good job McDonald’s. Feels like a management problem to me as the workers were engaged but not enough of them. Don’t go if you don’t have to and my thoughts are with you if you have to go.
Update: Sunday morning 1000 am. Drive thru line is around the building so I go inside to order to find the crew arguing about whose fault it is. Clearly I left, but not before hearing another patron trying to get her drive thru order corrected and not having an easy time doing it.
