Mr. Chubby's Wings — Restaurant in Jacksonville

While visiting my favorite watering hole for probably well over 1,000th time, I relized that I have never left a google review. I decided to take this opportunity to share my experiences from since I started as a customer.

This establishment is a both a bar and restaraunt. Even though there is a bar, there is a family atmosphere throughout the building. Many local families come here to eat. A lot of times I come in, youth sports teams are here, enjoying food after a weekend game.

Many of the staff have worked here for a long time, and know many of the customers.

I have to say that the compensation must be well above average for the industry since their retention level is very long for the food service/bar industry.

The staff is friendly, most know me by name or if they do not they are new to Chubby's.

The food menu is your basic bar food. I would say the wings for Jacksonville are some of the best you will find, but there are many other options if wings are not your preference.

My choice off the menu is the grilled fish sandwhich and sub in a side salad to pair with a few Intuition I10 IPA drafts.

The prices are very reasonable depending on what you drink. They have 2-4-1 drinks and bucket bottle beer.

Sports is the main thing here, especially football, MMA. Big Jags and Gator supporting fan groups here. If you show up, go to the TV where your team is playing. You will make new friends.

You will not find a available seat on NFL and College Football game day.

They also have Trivia on Mon, Kareoke on Tues, Live Music on Fri. A lot going on other than sports.

I would say if you had not checked Chubby's out, stop in. The people are always friendly and you can always find sports of have good conversation with just about anyone inside.

Swithch tables on Saturday night. Needed to see the Gator game better and realized the server I was going to have was a new one from last week that wasn't that great. Still tipped her well as always for the last 15 years coming in since it was Fast Boys. New server asked if I had an open tab with other server and I said no she didn't ever come to even clean off the dirty table after sitting there for 10 minutes. My last experience wasn't great so I moved to your section. Next thing I know I am being questioned by the manager in the most uncomfortable situation and being accused of making a racial slur about the other server. Was told no one would serve me and I should leave. I explained why I moved and asked to walk to the back and talk with the server that made the accusation. I was refused. I have never in my life felt so humiliated. I know nearly every server and every customer that walks in this place. I was asked to leave and refused to be waited on!!! No racial comment was ever made. No remark of skin color or anything. 2 nights a week with a tab over $100 and a tip over 20% and this is how I was treated. My heart felt better when a black man outside told me he over heard everything and they were wrong for doing me this way. Shame on you manager for not allowing me to confront the server that made the false accusation and shame on you for keeping her employed. Cinnamon is a great young lady she is just new and my last experience wasn't great. The fact that she is black is not an issue. But the black manager made it one for no reason at all. I will share my experience here...

Last time we were here at the Chaffee Rd restaurant was 9 years ago. Not good then but we thought we would try it again. Nothing has changed! Still not good, mostly the service but the food is mediocre. We were there around 4ish in the afternoon. Not busy.The food came out in increments. We got drinks after 10 minutes, then came a side salad after 15 minutes, then came the breaded, garlic parmesan wings after about 25 minutes. Basically fried chicken with powdered garlic and parmesan sprinkled over them. Bleh. No onion rings yet. We expressed concern over the slow time to a passing wait staff person who said it was shift change and 10 minutes later nothing. So by the time the onion rings were coming out we were ready to leave. Our server Carly M was pretty much nonexistent. But, she brought the onion rings in a to go box and tossed them on the table saying they were comp'd. She ran off so we had to go the bar to pay. When got in our car and some girl employee came running out saying it didn't appear we paid because our server couldn't find the tab. Really? Well, if she had been attentive she would have known we paid at the bar. And, by the way, the girl who came out to our car had been at the table behind us the whole time talking it up with some guy. Flicking her hair around, tossing loose strands into the air. Gross. Needless to say we won't try Mr....
