THE ABSOLUTE WORST POPEYES IN JACKSONVILLE. NO I would say THE WORLD. Not sure why they are even open or still in business. The Lobby is NEVER OPEN. They keep the doors locked all the time. Last time I checked ALL POPEYES were back opened especially the Lobby. Think they never got the memo the Pandemic is pretty much over and businesses can and should resume service as they did once before the pandemic. Meaning the Lobby needs to be open. I went to this Popeye's twice in one day. Once at 509pm. I was told there was a 30 minute wait for chicken. I come back at 630pm and was told again that there was a 30 minute wait on chicken. The 1st time ok. The 2nd time not OK. Especially at 630pm. From 630pm to 8/830pm. All items should be up and ready for service. The cook and/manager should know when to drop chicken period. Not wait during dinner service again to say your waiting on chicken again. If you know this then plan accordingly manager and cook. This costed this establishment alot of money today and tonight. Being every 4 cars that drove off at 630 and the car that drove off before me at 530pm. I went home and came back and still the same thing. Then the gentlemen has the nerve when I asked again. I was here 30 mins ago tell me; " It's not my fault people keep coming and buying the chicken up" where are you guys finding these employees for one including the manager. I feel bad for their District and regional manager. Oh and they have no sides. It's pretty much just fries and mash potatoes. No Mild or Spicy tenders, no Mac & Cheese, a hold on Fries as well. No rice & beans and a few list of about 8 things missing on the menu they had on the menu board. Typed out on paper stating this. What do you have? Just close already honestly being there is a waste of time. Avoid this Popeye's it's not like they have anything anyway. Go to another with alot better employees that know what customer service is and go too one with products especially chicken. How are you a chicken place but don't have chicken, chicken tenders, or any of the sides. Just go home! Terrible I will never return they may not have chicken again and maybe another 30 min wait. So I'm alright twice was great for me to leave both times with no food. Wasting gas for nothing only to go to another restaurant, Popeye's or chicken...
Read moreI went to the Popeye's on University boulevard North and Arlington Road approximately it's in Jacksonville Florida. The food was fantastic this time, however, initially I went through the drive-thru and ask what the specials were for chicken only. I heard laughing and giggling and then a girl asked me " What did I say?" I repeated my question then there was silence. Then a manager by the name of David came on, I asked him the same thing and I could hear shuffling and giggling in the background. I was tired in pain because I had surgery on my foot and I just wanted a meal and to go home, so I told him "Look I'm coming inside." I came inside talk to David, instead of David completing the conversation with me he proceeded to converse with a young man behind me. He broke off the conversation with me to talk to the young man. Finally very nice young lady asked me how could she assist me and then another lady, also came to aid us. She was very, nice very professional. To say my trip to this Popeyes was completely successful, no. I got my food it was hot and fresh. I saw that; the two young ladies who assisted, their level of kindness and professionalism was great. I really appreciate that. The initial contact I had through the drive-thru though and when I came in and talk to the manager David, left a lot to be desired. To the point that I won't be going back there for a while. You only have one time to make a...

What I once considered the best fast-food fried chicken spot has now become the worst thing you can eat. Over the years, the Popeyes at 1509 University Blvd, Jacksonville, FL has gotten nastier and nastier. I actually stopped eating there over a year ago because of this.
Today (8/19/2025), on my way home from a long road trip, I decided to give it another shot—only to find that nothing has changed. The worker was extremely sweaty, with sweat running down their face and arms. One can only imagine that sweat is one of the “special secret seasonings.”
For a place whose whole motto is chicken, they’re always out of chicken. Customers either wait 30 minutes or more, or get stuck with a random mix of whatever pieces are left.
I ordered a 4-piece meal with just legs, because the reason I stopped going before was that the larger pieces—like breasts and thighs—were never cooked all the way through. Sadly, a year later, even the legs have followed suit. The meat near the bone was still a little bloody and undercooked, leaving only the skin edible. Burnt food isn’t a big deal to me, but undercooked food is. (Example: I actually like my eggs slightly burnt!)
In short, this Popeyes gives off the attitude of: Who invited you? or the: Take it or leave it attitude .
