Taqueria Amigos Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Jacksonville

My husband and I came here to dine in for the first time on Easter, we took into consideration that the restaurant would be busy however, it took about 10-15 minutes before a server came to our table. When he did, he barely made a greeting nor when we asked about alcoholic beverages and if there was a separate menu, he mentioned the alcohol menu was on the board but never made any suggestions or advance to see if we would be be interested with what’s on there. We got our appetizer and food came a little later. My husband got the Enchiladas Supremas and his food was small and cold, a person would usually get a big portion and it would be hot. He was very unsatisfied with his food. Our server did not come check on us the entire time until we were really upset and ready to go. When my husband told the server why our experience was bad, the server didn’t say or do anything to fix the problem, and gave off a persona that he didn’t care. We went to pay for our food and by that time everything had slowed down, yet we still had to wait to pay. The same server came and cashed us out however, he didn’t offer a bag or anything for the food I was holding. My wife, son and I had lunch here. We ordered fish, tacos and hamburger. I know ordering a hamburger is odd at mexican restaurant.

The customer service was very rushed and un-welcoming. Some items was good but very inconsistent. Here are some details:

Fries were in freezer too long and had a strong “freezer” taste.

The portions of beans and rice were very small. The rice was very good.

The shrimp in wife’s tacos were extremely small, almost non existent.

The chip salsa was very bland. Almost seemed like they just rushed it and didn’t care.

My sons hamburger looked like it came from Mcdonalds kids meal and portion of fries was small.

Lastly, these were not lunch menu options. I did ask for lunch menu and they stated, “we don’t don’t have lunch specials, not sure why”. So, these are dinner meals and if so, why are the portions so small? (Maybe they got used used to Covid portions and hyped price)

I’m not a person to leave bad reviews, but this restaurant was not up to base level.

Do yourself a favor and ask for recommendations for...

Unfortunately when you don't want to cook you go looking for food and you have take that chance. And, Unfortunately we don't learn our lessons. We've been here about ....mmmm 6 times. About 50% of the time it's meh. Today though...... I ordered the chicken flautas. Rice and beads were cold, waiter took plate back. I knew they were going to microwave the food and that was .....whatever. But I thought they would have taken the flautas with the lettuce, tomato, and sour cream off the plate before they stuck in microwave on full blast. They didn't.....needless to say that little salad topping was ruined. Flautas had absolutely no taste, the beans were hot but flavorless, the rice was also hot but also flavorless. So I think we have learned our lesson finally and will not be back. Reason for posting???? Well, I don't want you to waste your money hoping that next time will be better. Unfortunately it will not. These restaurants thrive on people saying that next time it will be better. So if you want good Mexican food. Well, I can't help you. There isn't any here in Arkansas....
