Unempressed to say the least.... Ran into this location after the local breakfast spot was closed unexpectedly. Was very hungry and as an avid sushi lover and wanted to try. The location is secluded over by a farm supply store, and parking lot is horrible with tons of potholes that can damage your car if you're not paying attention and driving the wrong speed. Ambiance of restaurant is nice. At the time the restaurant wasn't very busy at all. Almost empty. We were sat immediately in a booth. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. No music was playing to set the ambiance. Only TVs playing with no sound. The pricing of the lunch specials is exciting, until you get the sushi and the meal plates. Was definitely smaller than expected. Food comes in small portion sizes. You do get what you pay for here. Complimentary waters didn't taste too well. Has chemical odor. This location could use a good water filtration system. Calamari appetizer was very disappointing. Not fresh and very rubbery like from frozen package and not fresh. Presentation of sushi and our meals were very basic. Not impressive at all. Food was placed on cheap plastic plates along with cheap school lunch cafeteria style silverware and napkins! I was honestly too scared to check out the bathroom quality, or lack thereof. Overall we've had better sushi within Tyler city limits and intend on keeping our business there. We would've rather payed more for better quality food. Paid more for a better overall experience. Ordered drinks to go that were placed in styrofoam cups. Visit at your...

Went there for lunch based on a recommendation, at around 1 p.m. - excellent choice.

First trip to Yamato Hibachi and I will certainly return during other times of the day to see if the great food was a fluke or it is the real deal.

No pictures this time, but I highly recommend the "Alabama." Yes, that is the real name and while it doesn't sound Asian, the dish certainly was.

The Alabama resembles a sushi roll, about 10-12" long with shrimp inside and a drizzle if a savory sweet sauce. Don't like sweet and savory? Just tell the server to go lightly. It was very colorful and tasty.

The facilities were nice and the people kind and non-intrusive, but tended to the table, drinks and customers very effectively.

Yamato Habachi gets a four-star this time only because I want to test them again. Different time, day and food. If you're in Jacksonville and are in the mood for Asian cuisine, give them a chance. They have room for...

This is just what this town needed! Some may say that they had a bad experience, but maybe that was because they came with preconceived notions and/or poor attitudes. Yes, the hibachi grill is in the kitchen. If you want to be entertained by big flames and onion volcanoes, by all means...go to Tyler. If you want to experience the food without the theatrics, this is your spot. The sushi is on par with the distance from any large body of water. Yet, they still manage to deliver a quality product. If you have no clue about this cuisine, but still want to dip a toe in...ASK QUESTIONS! The server may have an accent, but if you listen...and again...ASK QUESTIONS...you may well get an understanding of what you want to order. This place is great! Check yourself before attempting to criticize something that you...

This is my favorite place in East Texas to get sushi. We have tried so many other restaurants in Tyler and I always come back to Yamato because it's my favorite. Why? Because Yamato is consistent and the food is great and well plated. Staff is friendly and service is extremely fast. I have yet to have a negative experience here and we have been coming now for several years. My favorite picks from here are the veggie bento lunch, the steamed vegetable plate, and the shrimp tempura roll. We also get the chicken hibachi style dinner and it is a winner, too. Please note that they are closed on Mondays.

We go to Yomato a few times a year and its always pretty good! Today we had hibachi and sushi. Chicken hibachi, steak hibachi and crunch roll were all good! I always get extra eel sauce and spicy mayo for dipping, which makes it extra awesome to me. The waitress, hostess and bartender were all great. They were short staffed, which the hostess let us know right away. We had to wait about 20 mins for our table for two, but we just sat in the bar are and had a few drinks, that were great! Husband loved the Japanese beer. We will be back because we enjoy it every time!
