Welp.. the line is drawn. My wife and I eat here almost every Sunday night without a hitch for several years now. Lady at the widow is always so nice while taking “our money” for their food. Well a mistake here and there never bothers me because of their kindness. Not today.. ordered a staple I order all the time… sweet and sour chicken with lo mein.. no broccoli. Well, I got broccoli all throughout my lo mein and I did not get any sauce for the sweet-and-sour chicken.Called them and spoke with the lady in the window and she apologized with. I’m so sorry. She said I thought she said no sauce and I said no as usual. She said no broccoli. Who orders sweet-and-sour chicken without sweet-and-sour sauce? Nonetheless her answer was I am so sorry.. I am stuck here with broccoli all through my lo mein and sweet-and-sour chicken without sauce. It is about to storm outside, so we are not going back out. Yet all the lady could say was I’m so sorry. The food - Food is pretty good from what I've had there so far, it's the classic Chinese food we all know and love, nothing special but nothing bad either but the portions are quite large.
Service - Absolutely phenomenal, in a day and age where good service and kind people are unfortunately increasingly rare Ying's manages to go above and beyond, the staff are very nice and take time outta their day to not just provide excellent service but to be human and provide decency and kindness above all.
Atmosphere - This one is rated low because outside the exterior of Ying's there's no atmosphere as it's drive through only.
Price - This is probably one of the best parts, decent food, and great service all for a relatively low price, most fast food places these days cost more than Ying's and give you half the amount of food.
All in all Ying's...
Read moreying's chinee takee outee is a jacksonville legend. they've been around for 30-40 years and they still have the best americanized-chinese food in the city.
their beef and broccoli tastes like my childhood and i would trust them with my life. i can't even eat americanized-chinese takeout from other restaurants because i just get reminded of how much better ying's is.
amazing service, dirt-cheap for large tasty portions, and an almost non-existent wait time for your food. easily 10/10, my favorite takeout spot in this city, just don't eat here every day because it's not good for your health
FYI: they are takeout-only, no dining room, and their forks are kinda flimsy. be ready to eat in your car/at home/a picnic, or maybe eat in the Dairy Queen dining room...
