It was a stormy morning. I had checked the weather moments before leaving the house with a desperate, almost primal need for a treat that could not be satisfied. For hours I drove around searching for the perfect fulfillment until I saw it.. I turned onto University Blvd and there it was, Red Owl Coffee Company.
"This cant be," I thought to myself. Almost cinematically the fog around me lifted and the rain ceased leaving a cascading light in front of me. The owls sweet coos filled my ears and I turned into the drive thru. The speaker had a calming, hum coming from it while I observed my many options. Caramel Dolce.. Yorkshire.. Dosta.. I began to get overwhelmed with all the perfectly crafted options that are house made daily.. but then something happened.
"Thank you for choosing Red Owl, my name is Moon. How may I help you?" A quiver went down my body and I looked into the clearing sky to see the Moon in the early morning sunrise staring back at me, similarly to the one speaking at me over their headset. I looked forward in awe, seeing a beautiful, split hair dyed person waving kindly towards me from the now open drive thru window. I paused hesitantly, this cant be... is this.. the one?
My cars wheels screeched forward with desperation to see this voice even closer, Moon smiled at me and reached out their hand to shake mine. I still hadn't decided what I wanted to order however none of that mattered now. Is it possible to order a barista?
I stuttered over menu questions, each one patiently answered with immense knowledge of the ingredients and steps taken to craft a perfect drink every time. Soon we decided on the drink I would get..
A large nightvision..
A perfectly concocted green apple energy drink that Moon informed me was a healthy plant alternative to other energy drinks. It fit my flavor profile expectations like a glove, I knew Moon was the one just like the drink. I offered over my card with no hesitation, making intense eye contact with them the entire time.
"Do you want to put in a phone number for points?" I smiled deeply and longingly looked into their orbs, knowing Moon wanted me to give them my contact information so I rattled it off and went about my day. Tomorrow I will go back to see my beloved and try the Dosta as they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered from this location online. Nothing about my poor experience should have been impacted due to it being an online order. I ordered a few different food items and a coffee. I specifically ordered the breakfast cup DELUXE, which is supposed to be a larger variant (16oz cup instead of a 12oz cup) of the breakfast cup (meat of choice, egg, cheese, grits), where the deluxe includes hash browns. Mine did not come with hash browns or cheese. It did come in a 16oz cup...filled about 10oz worth of sausage, egg, and grits. I measured the fill spot with water after I ate it, about 270g of the 473g capacity was filled. The grits weren't great either, they were too dry and might have been mixed up with spackle. I also ordered a bagel with choice of spread and then I paid $1 for strawberry cream cheese. The amount of cream cheese was criminal. The middle bagel well was partially filled in with almost none spread on the bagel itself. To say they disrespected the schmear is an understatement. This is potentially the one thing where ordering online might have been a factor, because I don't know if they could look a customer standing in their shop in the eye while they spread a teaspoon's worth of cream cheese on a full size bagel, and think they gave the customer what they paid for. The coffee was fine, and the breakfast sandwich I ordered was decent, but I'll definitely pass on this place in the future, and certainly couldn't recommend it to...
