El Maguey Grill — Restaurant in Jasper

We waited to be seated even tho there wasn't any wait. Just ignored. Then when we were seated, the table was extremely sticky, like, making our fingers sticky to touch it. We asked for the waitress to wipe the table and she exhaled very loudly, rolled her eyes and just walked off. Another lady that spoke English explained it was just the wood...and refused to wipe table!

....what?!...

Wipe the table when a customer asks!

If it's that hard to just wipe a table I wonder how well the hygiene and cleanliness is here.

The waitress came back and while we were discussing what we wanted to order, as we weren't sure, she waved us on with her hand trying to rush us, then cut us off mid-question by asking if we need more time in a very annoyed tone. We ordered guacamole. When it came back and it was just tomatoes, onions, cilantro and avocado thrown in a bowl, not even mixed up, I was done. We told the hostess we were ready to go. She asked why and we told her but did we really need to?

Wipe. The. Table.

BTW. Mi Jalisco has wooden tables that are NOT sticky and they were more than happy to serve us. It was delicious. Go there! It's one minute north by Hibbets...

We loved the atmosphere & the food!

The salsa was very mild, delicious, and paired very well with the fresh chips. I got a Chile Relleno ala carte. It was so delicious. They stuff theirs with ground beef and cheese and serve with beans and more cheese. I also got a spinach Quesadella with lettuce, avocado, tomato, sour cream, and beans instead of rice. My only criticism on the quesadilla was that there wasn't very much cheese in it. The spinach was very nicely seasoned, but it just needed more cheese.

My brother had a margarita with no salt and said it was really good. He ordered the Chile Verde, which came with beans and rice. I tried a little bite of the pork and Verde sauce. I found it to be very tender and...

Me and my wife used to love this place had great food but about 11 months ago we had our first bad experience with them where our food came out cold but they were very busy and we decided to give them another chance well we were there today they weren't busy at all maybe 2 or 3 other tables and my food came out cold and didn't taste very good either my wife's was horrible and she said her guacamole tasted like rubber. The only food we got that can out good was our daughters chicken tenders. This will be the last time we go here. But the waiter was very nice and did a good job.
