If you enjoy museums as much as I do this is definitely up your alley! Probably 1 of the most diverse small town museums I've had the pleasure of viewing. Don't let the plain exterior throw you off. Step into Dubois County history. From pioneers and the first immigrants to settle this area. Step back in time and view the town rooms with a barber shop, saloon, general store, etc. Definitely follow the planned path as you wonder through each exhibit experience time in movement. The sports memorial room was my husband's favorite. Local players are celebrated here from the first sports teams to today's local heroes. The trophy room is by far a fantastic place to see a man's many quests. Life size animals stare back at you almost looking ready to pounce. Although some updates are needed to mark each animal, the birds are amazin I only wish I could have read all the signs. Coming out you will be greeted with our nations history of farming and running life on steam power. Be sure to check for a local gathering of steam engine farming equipment come to life. ( planning to go myself this year) I sure hope you can o e day visit...

We spent about 2 hours going through it. We could have spent much more time there. They have so much to see. Local military memorabilia, local sports items, farm equipment, several beautiful hand painted murals, a 2 room log cabin you can go in, and so much more. It's hard to name it all. Adults cost just $5 each. All of the staff or volunteers were very friendly and helpful. Ready to help and answer any questions too. It's also...
Read moreOutstanding museum! This county museum is amazing. Over 50,000 square feet; the average Walmart supercenter is about 105,000 SQ ft if that helps. It's easy to walk through and interesting for every age. Displays celebrate immigrants, military, farming, manufacturing, education, sports, a mock main street, hands on play for kids, a gift shop, clean restrooms and more! At the time of this post, January, 2023, it was $5 per person. My advice is take your time. Read the captions at the displays, look for family names, and ask questions. This museum is...
