Very expensive and not great food - service was the only thing we can say was great about the Foundry. So much potential to be amazing though! We came here after visiting the Pump House Waterpark and got a variety of different things: Thai Chili Wings, Haynes and Pepperoni Pizzas on gluten-free dough, and the Jay Burger. We also got the Lavender Meyer Lemonade mocktail to drink. The mocktail was good but the wings were just okay - was too heavy on the chili. I feel like a Thai chili sauce should be sweet and spicy, but it was just all spice and no sweetness to it.
The gluten-free pizza was super disappointing…maybe the normal pizzas are okay, but these tasted like microwaveable pizza. I don’t know why they would even have a gluten-free option if it tasted this bad! So many other places in Vermont do amazing gluten-free pizzas so I have no idea why they can’t use a better dough. And then the burger was pretty sub-par as well - for $18 using Cabot cheddar, I would expect a fantastic, juicy burger. It was unfortunately quite bland, pretty dry (when cooked medium) and honestly a bit gamey. If it’s literally called the “Jay” Burger, after the resort, I’d sure as heck try to make my namesake burger as good as possible if I were Jay Peak…not aure what happened there.
Basically, I would steer clear of the pizzas and the Jay Burger specifically, and I just don’t know what I would recommend here. Again, only the service (and the view from our window table) were good. Check out some other places at Jay Peak or at nearby towns before you come to this...
Read moreThe food was good. Not stellar for the cost. The duck was overcooked and slightly dried out. Service has much room for improvement also.
My girlfriend ordered a medium well cooked burger for lunch, came out black and charcoal like. She ordered a burger for dinner, ordered it medium and it came out just on the other side of rare. We went back for breakfast (because it's the only place open for sit down breakfast) and we were promptly seated and informed it was only buffet. We got food and sat down, as we just started eatting we were informed they were closing the buffet if we wanted more we should go get it now. Well there were no pancakes left after we came through, the sausage was very over cooked, I had to ask for orange juice as it was also empty..... we received our bill and it was $15 per person.... It was not worth that at all and wold have been nice to have known they were done serving breakfast shortly after we were seated. The staff did not seem to be to over enthused to be working let alone waiting on people.
It would not be a top recommendation to anyone I knew...
Read moreThe food was okay, and our waitress was friendly, but the manager and service overall at this place were not OK. We ordered many dishes, including the grilled steak. I ordered medium rare for my steak, and more than half of the steak was well-done ( completely brown without any pinkish at all). I reminded our waitress of what I ordered (medium rare) and asked if she could ask the kitchen to make it right. She apologized and took it back. A few minutes later, the manager walked out with that piece of steak and asked me to cut the other side in front of him- he said to see, this side was medium rare as you ordered it. Are you okay now? I felt obligated and sensed that he would not change it to a new piece anyhow and worried if I kept pushing, the new dish would have a hidden treasure of germs. So I accepted and only ate a quarter of my $50 piece of steak and left the rest (the completely well-done part) on the plate. Nonetheless, I never experienced something like this before anywhere. I will never return to the foundry bar and grill again when we...
