El Jimador Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Jefferson City

Been coming here every so often over the years. Servers always change, we've had some we loved but never anyone rude or unpleasant and I think that speaks wonders. I haven't tried much of their food in general because I fell in love with one thing and I get it every time. Chicken Fajita. You get a lot of food for what you order too. Me and my fiance (large gentleman) split a single chicken fajita and still have leftovers. I Think it's around $13-14. They also have a toppings/salsa bar at no extra cost. And of course, complimentary chips and salsa. This last visit, I ordered a drink that comes in a pineapple! It was very fun and tropical-cute, I recommend if you are looking for an experience like that! You can get it with or without alcohol($12 with, cheaper without). I ordered it with and it was extremely light on the alcohol, but that might be that drink specifically. I don't normally get drinks here so I don't know how topped off they normally are. Wasn't expecting to review so I only took pictures of the drink since it was special this time around. Hope you have a good time wherever you go!

Edit:7/11/23 Adding more photos! Changed Salsa bar to toppings/salsa bar. I changed the price to $10-20, but I really can't emphasize enough their portion sizes are huge. Continued to have nice service. The fajita comes with a large plate of beans, rice, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, and some tortillas. I always ask to have my rice and on a separate plate and my mom asks for her beans and rice separate (we're picky eaters) and they do that, no problem. My fiance ordered his own this time, Burrito El Jimador Chicken. He loved it....

I have been eating at this restaurant since I've moved here two years ago and although I have had several bad customer service experiences in the past, I never ever thought to give a bad review until today. I always order the same plate and request the same sides as I am a man of routine. I order the taco salad with a fresh side of chips because the shell it comes with is to brittle to pick up the food. I have always payed for my ordered food and never tried to get out of paying for anything. Today I ordered my usual but my server forgot my side of chips which was no big deal. I simply asked for the chips and waited. I waited and noticed that my server began to seat two more tables grabbed their drinks and returned to take there order. At this point my food was cold so I returned the food and said I will not be eating after all. The server then returns with another plate thinking I will eat a new fresh plate. I informed him that I will not be eating . The manager then tells me all I do is eat chips and never pay for my food. I then go to pay for my ordered food to include the taco salad and they refused to let me pay for it. This is when I decided to leave a bad review. I have always payed for my food and given generous tips when the service was great. Now I'm a no paying cheap skate? This is the very first time I had to send the food back and this is how I'm treated? OK no more business from me. We started off our experience thinking our meal would be easy and satisfying. Unfortunately due to poor management, bad service, and what seemed to be untrained kitchen staff, our experience left us frustrated and disgusted. The service was incredibly slow and our server disappeared constantly with no help coming to us elsewhere. Our orders got mixed up and they were missing plates when they brought our food. The chorizo in the queso fundido contained what seemed to be old meat that was gray and smelled like wet dog. The plates were covered in so much shredded iceberg lettuce you could hardly tell what was on which plate and when you brushed the iceberg lettuce away, there was hardly any actual food. The manager finally came to our table when our food got mixed up and was very aggressive insisting we switched our plates around instead of taking responsibility or apologizing for what was their mistake. No one ever checked on us, no one apologized, or offered to correct the issues. When we went to pay our check, we mentioned the issues and the manager came back and told the cashier they could not give us any discount or compensate for the issues we had.
