OK, I'm glad that Izzys is doing what 5 Guys isn't - serving Jefferson City. Also, they aren't slamming you with 5 Guys prices! Food was every bit as tasty, maybe even a touch better, at mucho bucks less. After tax, a Single Cheeseburger w/onions Large Combo was $15.50 all-in. Same combo at the other place is over $23 before tax. I'll keep my money local, thanks, and enjoy the ambiance of Izzy's on High Street.
The burger was hot, fresh, and juicy. The bun fluffy and light, toppings, including the Z sauce were zesty, the pickles had a nice homemade bite. The fries were fresh cut, skins on, hot and delicious, and you get a lot of them!
The burgers are served on a metal baking sheet lined with paper, and service was fast! They do allow refills on fountain soft drinks, there are Cherry and Vanilla mixes for those that like classic add-in flavors.
I topped my meal off with an M&M's shake. They mix them the old-fashioned way, with real Central Dairy ice cream, mini-M&M's, whipped cream from the can, and a maraschino cherry on top. I savored this treat for a fair time by itself.
They were bustling in the house, folks coming in at a regular pace. Seating for large groups is limited, most of their tables are 2-tops with 3 or four larger tables in the front. The store is wheelchair accessible, at the High Street entry with seating for those needing it. There is a disability park spot a couple of stores down, this is where I parked. There is also a rear entrance from the alley side of the restaurant.
There are a couple of outdoor tables along the street available. They were filled when I can in, so I took a two-top inside.
Condiments are available at a pump station to the right of the counter. The decor is nice, and music is played at a civil level. Staff was friendly, and brought my food the the table.
Loved the experience, and Izzy's is on my recommended list to visit in Jeff City, along with other local eateries. I...
Read moreI ordered carry out because it was less than 5 minutes before closing the restaurant. Therefore, I ate my food outside, and as soon as I took a bite of my double cheese burger, it was lukewarm, and the bread 🍞 was soggy, and the pickle flavor saturated the bread. I ordered no salt on the burger and fries. They failed! Salt was on the fries and my burger. I called the restaurant because the doors were locked and closed. This is where the poor service was magnified beyond 😢 😔 dissatisfied. The young lady who took my call 📞 was rude and disrespectful by cutting me off before I could finish my complaint. She made her own conclusion of my complaint and told me I don't believe we served you lukewarm food with salt on your fries if you ordered it that way. You're not getting anything from us. I asked to speak with the manager, and the young lady kept telling me, "we're closed, and she's busy." I asked for the shift managers name. The young lady refused to tell me, and neither did she tell me her name. I asked again to please let me speak to the manager while again this employee kept yelling at me, NO WE'RE CLOSED AND SHE'S BUSY!" I was in complete shock 😲 about her behavior and the way I was being treated by this employee. Finally, the manager took the phone ( which indicates she was nearby and totally listening to the call 📞) she apologized for how her employee was talking to me out of character 😳. But, the manager continued with the same conclusion that they served me hot food, and the reason why salt was on the burger and fries is because I did not order my food with "no salt." She told me, "My owner said, he's not going to remake your food nor give you a refund, but if you want a free milkshake, we'd be happy to...
Read moreFood was not great, burgers were all undercooked and of less than par taste, fries were mushy and overcooked, very disappointed in the choices as well. It was all definitely overpriced for what it is, my cheese smash burger was ten whole dollars and with fries that went up to about fifteen. A McDonald's big mac meal taste better and is way cheaper than what I tasted, worst of all the food is ridiculously greasy, it'll leave you panting and needing more than one bathroom break. Milkshakes were average, nothing much better than what you could get somewhere else for much cheaper. Service was amazing, waiters were nice and deserve the tips. Comfortability and atmosphere was not great, not much seating and the booths are only for 2 people and are as hard as a brick. There is only one table. I recommend getting your food to go and eating it at the coffee place next door. Overall it's really the food and atmosphere/comfortability itself that makes it a one star for me. This needs some work if it wants another visit personally. No...
