It should be closed down. Last year on my birthday, we went there for lunch. I ordered the salmon poke bowl. The waitress asked me if I wanted cooked or raw salmon. I wanted raw, of course. I had eaten there before, and since I have alpha-gal, my food choices are limited. The salmon came on a plank not cut up like sushi pieces . I have a feeling maybe someone in the kitchen used the marinated salmon for cooking instead of the sushi-grade salmon. I ate until I was hitting a lot of sinew and realized this was not a sushi piece. I privately contacted the owner when I got home. My husband does not like complaining at a restaurant I was attacked for that but not all people will complain in person.. . He was defensive. Very very defensive. My Facebook wall doesn’t get much action, but I posted on my personal wall that I was unhappy with my birthday meal. The person in charge of the grands messages. sent 800 people to my Facebook wall, cussing me out, calling me horrible and stupid, saying how dare I write a bad review, that The Grand was righteous, and I was just some jerk trying to ruin their perfect establishment. I spent all night on my birthday deleting the 800 vile, trolling messages from strangers on some restaurant group. That was bad enough, but by the next day, my finger cuticles started hurting badly and turning red. I had a flesh-eating bacterial infection; luckily, I got to antibiotics fast enough. This is coming up on the one-year anniversary of this horrid experience, and to be honest, I think that restaurant has more issues than personality. I worked in restaurants before the military—top restaurants as a waitress—and I have never, ever seen a restaurant attack a customer, especially after making such a mistake. I am lucky to have my body parts. This restaurant, I suspect, has some serious issues and...
Read moreSo I found this place online cause I'm kind of a foody and make it a mission to visit at least a few places whatever town I may be in, I will start saying the service itself was fine, the hostess and server were very nice and both gave food suggestions, but I do have to say when you come to this place the amount of food and quality of food doesn't fit the price you are paying.
The restaurant itself is small and tucked into downtown Jeff City, nice location, kind of loud but they have added some padding on the walls to counteract that.
I will say before I start on food that whomever was in the kitchen did a great job of plating, food was well presented. I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and butternut squash. The meatloaf itself without the sauce (which they don't give a lot of) was dry and not very seasoned. The mashed potatoes were good tasting but not very smooth still quite clumpy. The squash I will say was good tasting and cooked well.
My friend got the lamb lollipops with mashed potatoes and maple-glazed carrots. There was very little lamb on the bones: about 5 bites worth... The carrots were okay, nothing special. His mashed potatoes were the same.
Overall we both individually paid at least 30 dollars for food that was mostly bland and not very filling. Will not be back which is unfortunate cause I try to give everyone a second chance but for the price, I don't think I can risk that!
Here is to hoping I caught the kitchen on a bad night as it was...
Read moreMy sisters and I were meeting up in Jefferson City for a birthday lunch. JC is in the middle of their locations - each having to drive two hours in opposite directions. We thought it would be a nice spot to gather and celebrate. I baked my sister’s favorite cake and we looked forward to eating here and be able to visit with one another. We were greeted rather coldly by a man and when we asked him if it was ok if we brought our cake in, he seemed very annoyed and bothered by our presence and by our cake. When the waitress came over to the table, she seemed equally bothered to have to serve or even greet my sister. She said, “I don’t make the rules but it will be a $25 fee for bringing in the cake.” I can understand a fee but that seems excessive. Based on their rude and unwelcoming behavior, we left before our other sister even arrived. I can’t rate the food because unfortunately, we didn’t get to order any. There certainly wasn’t anything “grand” about their service. We went to Madison’s around the corner. They couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. They were friendly and said that their fee for the cake would be fifty cents per person. The waitress was great and served us with kindness and care. She even asked if she could place our cake in the refrigerator for us. We cut her a piece of cake and she was so appreciate and sweet. My sisters and I ate, laughed and visited for two hours. We had a grand time…. ...
