Burgundy House is a breakfast/lunch style restaurant very similar to Golden Nugget Pancake House. We were in search for a brunch/lunch place but all the places closed at 3 and we were cutting real close to closing time. We decided on this place.
As soon as you enter, it’s like you’re walking into a restaurant in the 60’s. All the decor and seating and even register are so “vintage” you can almost smell how old this place is! (To be honest, I don’t know if this is a compliment or not). The bathroom needs a MAJOR upgrade or maybe a very thorough cleanse! While in there I counted at least 10 flies just flying around what looked like grease stains all over the tiny 2 stall bathroom walls. The seats were so sticky, my 4 year old kept sticking to the booth.
Food: the biscuits and gravy were decent but did taste a little watery for my liking. The country fried steak was good. Breading was consistent and flavorful. My girls got pancakes and waffles. They really enjoyed that. I also got a side of ham off the bone and it was a little salty. We did really enjoy the hot vanilla lattes. My husband got an order of pancakes, and he was disappointed in the texture and flavor of them. He said they tasted like plastic, almost as if they came prepackaged.
To summarize, we won’t be back. I do have to give a huge thanks to the cook that was there because I wanted some items on the menu a certain way and though the waitress was refusing to do it (which I was okay with) he offered to make it how...
Read morePlace is a little outdated. Food is good. Hashbrowns are not shredded. They are more of a potato mashed but still good. My preference is shredded. I will say the do need new fountains for their sodas. I asked for a coke. Really tasted horrible. Waitress gave me lemon lime soda had a horrible taste. I will recommend to the owner to actually get a new fountain system. I can tell probably a super old system and it taste horrible. Because of that I had to get a super small cup of freshly squeezed orange juice I think was about $4.50 and the cup was super small with mostly pulp on top.
I will say the cook got my order on point. I love my bacon 🥓 really well done so it was perfect. The eggs were over easy and they were perfect. The French toast was delicious. My bill way a little pricy but I guess everything is pricy now at days. Waitress was nice and I know she might have been slightly bothered when I told her about the coke. Probably thought I was crazy but it was nasty. I can taste it was flat nit just that... the lines tastes very old. They probably had the same system 20...
Read moreWe used to really love coming here when we lived in the neighborhood but on our last visit, husband said it was our last.
Server was sort of cold and not too helpful or informative. When asked about the specials, said they were listed "on the board" as we walked in.
My daughter then ordered a large bowl of their delish soup. It would've been great if the server told us, in advance, just how large their bowls were....see pic below. The server was obviously tired and the negative vibe they gave, came from the fact that they were the ONLY server working on Sunday?! Having only one server is a recipe for poor customer service as was in our case. Can't really put the total blame of our discomfort on the server though.
Overall the food is always fresh and very tasty. But I do hope they start heating up their buns to at least warm and not serve it as cold n hard...
