I would suggest not ordering anything above $15-18, otherwise you may very well be disappointed with the amount & quality of food you expect to receive. We were encouraged by the good reviews and decided to try this place for a late lunch. I ordered the most expensive, if not one the most expensive meals on the menu, Mar y Tierra -$39.99. I got 2 small thin slices of rough overcooked beef and 4 medium overcooked shrimp, not the jumbo kind as stated in the menu. These beef & shrimp were obviously not freshly cooked, but left over and reheated. On the side I was given a good amount of beans with cheese on top, a small portion of cold rice, a bit of lettuce and a teaspoon of pico de gallo. Most definitely did not get my money's worth. Everyone else ordered meals that were half and less than half of the cost of mine and were given the same portion of food, if not more. The tamarindo beverage I had was very good, but the orchata was overly sweet. The chips & salsa were okay. The house salsas were tastier. For dessert, we shared an order of Mexican fried ice cream; we enjoyed that. It is a generous amount and can easily be shared...
Read moreHad a craving for Mexican cuisine and I have stopped by "El Azteca" since I live nearby. Anyways I had more of a craving for Tex-Mex and they had a dish like a fajita called "Parrilla Zamora De Pollo" which is grilled chicken breast serve with onions, bell pepper, green onion leaves and grill cheese with whole pinto beans. Delicious and spicy from the Pinto Bean mold that was included in the dish. Salad was fresh too. Also for a drink had a "Sangria and Sidral Jarritos" which was tasty just like a alcoholic Sangria only this does not have alcohol. They do have beer as alcohol but I am NOT a beer drinker. Anyways it was local and was trying to get a workout to get something local near my neighborhood without driving my car and finding parking.I have been to "El Azteca" Before but Mexican cuisine is not my top favorite to eat. It is a craving every now and then like Indian Cuisine. It is a hit or miss with them but...
Read moreIf possible, I would give this restaurant 0 stars. Horrible customer service from waitress who gave an attitude from the start. When asked about the time it would take for a mojarra, the waitress responded by saying “as long as it takes for the fish to be done”. I decided to order it as I had been craving it. The waitress asked how I wanted my fish and when I told her I did not know what both options meant she said “well I need to know how you want your fish”.
Once I received the mojarra, the side salad was days old and not fresh. The fish was drenched in oil and nearly impossible to eat. I tried to remove the oil as much as possible with napkins but knew that I would get sick from eating it. The waitress noticed this and did not approach me about fixing the dish. The waitress mockingly said “I’m craving your dish”. I decided not to eat and leave instead. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not be...
