I told myself before.. McDonalds and Popeyes specifically will never earn a red cent from me (McDonalds hasn't but once and that was to try the competitions chicken sandwich which was..meh..) but I'm addicted to fried apple pies!:) McDonalds used to make them ages ago! And it propelled me to get 3 piece meal, a strawberry lemonade and additional fries.. (this time). I'd give this location at least a 4 for being prompt but one of the employees ( a short slightly obnoxious Mexican female) who wasn't taking my order said " mayate " in reference to one of us 4 melanated patrons in which I almost caused a scene and was about to get a refund. Since I was very short on time and had already overceeded my time there, I responded in English to indicate I know what she was saying. Both her and the Mexican girl who took and prepared my order got quiet. I picked a specific fried piece of chicken breast and asked for some honey and told 'her' have a nice day and walked out with a smile. They'll get a 2 from me. No one, no matter who it is, deserves any type of unsavory treatment or energy from people providing services from a brand who counts on the money provided by us patrons to 'survive'. Treat others as you would like to be treated or.. humbly resign. I worked in fast food services and can empathize with many who deal with toxicity be it fellow employees and/or customers. But there are some who just shouldn't be there if you don't know how to handle the public with integrity by showing your true nature casually...
Read moreSo this is my third visit to this location. It is set in a predominantly Latino neighborhood and so was 100% of the staff, i.e. Latino.
1st visit was memorable, 2nd visit was so-so, but this 3rd visit was just a very poor experience, it set a new low. I placed an online order in the store and told one of the workers about my order.
She then proceeded to check with her boss, an older Latina lady who whispered back some instructions, and I was like - here we go again!
My order was so miserly I was very tempted to ask for a refund but I decided against that and opted for a befitting review instead and also escalated to corporate.
Yes, that part! As a black male I don't think I have received half the hate from Caucasians as I have suffered from Latinos. However I think it is a new low when this racist attitude is brought to a place of business which you clearly don't own.

There were 5 cars in front of us and it took us 20 minutes to move 2 spaces! I give up and went to a different restaurant. I think that the managers need to be retrained so they can also retrain the employees. Today I stop at the very small Popeyes on Lawrance and Kedzie, this place has no drive-thru so, I parked and went inside.
