So we went there on April 21st to celebrate my brother's birthday, and as we entered, the hostess greeted us with an attitude and unfriendly overall. She asked us what we wanted, and not how can we help you like she did with people in front of us. She sat them immediately, and her attitude towards them was different. She(I didn't get her name she was chubby mid-30s? Asian woman with short hair) side eyes and asked us if we had a reservation, and we said no and paused for a second and was trying to deter us away until she mentions that we have tables but no grill and we have to clean them, again paused and continued because we answered that's fine well take the table she side eyed us again and took a few minutes to get back to us. She comes back and tells us that the tables have no grills that we if wanted the grills, we should have made a reservation and again we said that's fine we don't the grills we were ok with not having that experience she once again side eyed us and asked us to follow her she sped up and sat us down and walked away. She really didn't want us there. We're Hispanic, and we saw that we weren't the demographic they're used too but to assume a lot of things and there were a lot of things I wanted to tell her but I chose not too because I was my brother's birthday. The waiter who waited for us was AMAZING! (I didn't get his name, but he was an average height Asian man with short longish hair, thin body type) we didn't know what to get, he recommended the food we should try he was attentive and over all really friendly he made up the unpleasant experience with the hostess. But to be honest, I won't be returning to this establishment if people working there are willing to behave and profile people like that, it isn't worth spending my money in a place where they'll treat my family like that. I would rather spend it in a place where I feel welcomed...
Read moreI came here with a group of friends on a Saturday for AYCE. We were hopeful it would be more satisfying and authentic than Iron Age, but left sorely disappointed. The service was a little slow and not the friendliest, despite not being super busy as we were the first table seated after they opened at 3 pm. First of all, the table we were sitting at wasn't very clean. There were food particles on the chairs and the grill had black remnants from the night before. We ended up using pork belly to clean off the grill ourselves prior to grilling our own meat.
Secondly, we thought it was odd that the table we were seated at was for 6 people but for some reason the grill was located at one end of this table which meant we had to serve the 5th person who wasn't close enough to the table the entire time.
Next, the menu states certain items are available Unmarinated. But when we asked the waitress about getting the rib eye unmarinated, she told us it would need to be a few hours since the meat was still defrosting?? She had a bit of an attitude until we asked her what was the point in having something on your menu if it wasn't available...needless to say, we were forced to eat the marinated version.
The worst moment occurred after we ordered the beef brisket. It was the ugliest excuse for beef I've seen in my entire life! It looked like dog scraps and it was very stringy and mostly fat. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat that so we had it sent back. Waitress gave attitude about taking it back and only did so after two members of the party refused to eat it. We stuck with the LA galbi and flat iron beef options which tasted reasonable.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. Not worth it for $42 after tax and tip. Will not be returning under my own...
Read moreI don't often write reviews unless the experience is exceptional, I'm not sure if I've wrote any negative reviews before, and I have never walked out before finishing a meal.
I dislike negative reviews because it tends to discount the amount of hard work that has been put into a meal. It also tend to disparage the restaurant and/or the staffs.
For me, this particular dining experience has been exceptionally bad. I had to walk out after taking a couple of bites. Although my youngest almost finished his meal. Also the staffs didn't do anything wrong or unsavory and the atmosphere is decent.
What necessitated this review were a combination of factors.
The prices were a few dollars/dish more than competing restaurants, this could be contributed to the recent economic challenges.
-The tiny portions, on the menu it claimed 1/2 lbs of meat per a la carte order of chicken and beef. I'm not sure about seafood. IMHO it's in no way 1/2 lbs, it definitely looked less than competing restaurants. However visual judgement could be subjective.
-The side dishes, only a handful were provided. While greed isn't a good characteristic, one of the signature of Korean BBQ are the side dishes. IMHO just that handful totally diminishes the Korean BBQ experience.
-The poke bowl, this might be venturing into nitpicking territory. It's basically a bowl of rice with some sushi and vege stuffed in. Emphasizes on the stuffed, veges weren't chopped or cut down to edible pieces. It's more like a rice salad bowl.
It might be the combinations of the above price, portion, and minimal side dishes that made the last factor unbearable, but nevertheless we choose to pay for the meal we barely ate...
