We've lived in Louisville for nearly 5 years and the last 3 1/2 years we've driven by this location at least once a week, and have never been in.
While on vacation we were having dinner at a Brick House Tavern + Tap in Denver and it suddenly dawned on me that duh this is the same restaurant chain that we drive by every week back home!
After the great experience we had at the location in Denver we decided we HAVE to visit this location. As luck would have it we were looking for a place for Christmas Eve dinner and, since they were open until 9pm, this was the winner.
We walked in and were greeted and seated almost immediately (it was Christmas Eve). They didn't have any four tops available that weren't those god-awful low-seated couches, so the four of us sat at a six top.
The restaurant seats and tables were well-spaced, given the COVID precautions, which was kind of nice because you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the next table.
The Brick House décor is warm and dark, making it feel homey. The walls aren't covered ceiling-to-floor with beer and sports memorabilia. There are a few screens showing sports events and background music, but it's all very comfortable and nothing is so loud that you can't talk to the person next to you.
In keeping w/COVID protocols, they're not to keen on physical menus, so here ya go scanning a QR code to see what to order. (I really rather like that approach, to be honest.) I opted for fish and chips and a flight of beer. The Local flight had four samples from different local breweries. (a picture of The Local is posted along with this review)
The Local currently consists of: -Apocalypse Brewing's Atomic Amber -Country Boy Hazelnut -Gravely's La Bamba Negra -Three Floyds' Gumballhead
Our server was pretty on-the-ball for the duration of our visit. She was quick with drink refills, visited frequently - but no so frequently as to be an annoyance - and made sure everything was going well. The pacing of everything was
The fish and chips (ok, tots) were excellent. The fish was beer battered and came with tarter sauce, malt vinegar, and (because I asked for it) cocktail sauce. Everything ordered at out table was fresh, hot, and accurate.
The only drawback (aside from the god-awful low-seated couches), it'd be that they don't have merchandise. I collected glassware and it'd be a nice addition to my enormous collection.
Kinda bummed that it took us nearly 5 years go visit Brick House, but it's definitely on the "must...
Read moreThe food was okay, but the service was awful. My husband and I were sat and it wasn't even that busy yet it took at least 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged us. It did look like there was a busy table next to us with several people getting separate checks so I was trying to be understanding but we didn't even know who our server was as several people kept passing us and acting like we weren't even there. Finally our server came up to us and seemed really nice. Since we've been sitting there for a while we already were ready to order but she took our drink order and then walked away. She didn't take too long to come back though and then we gave her our order. My husband requested he not get coleslaw with his fish and chips and get extra fries and requested some vinegar to be brought with it. When the food was brought out it was someone that wasn't our server, which was fine.. but he didn't even ask if there was anything else we needed. He just promptly disappeared. My husband still has coleslaw, didn't have his vinegar and I was sitting there with no silverware so I couldn't eat my pasta. It seemed like it took FOREVER for our server to come back by and check on us. I thought about trying to flag somebody else down but it it seemed like everyone had blinders on and didn't even see us staring at any server that happened to walk by. By the time she checked on us my husband had eaten all his fries and I still couldn't eat and my food was getting cold. She didn't really apologize, just brought over some plates stacked with napkins and some silver on top and said" if anyone asks I brought this earlier" seriously? We...
Read moreI am appalled at the amount I paid for the quality of food and service I received. My wife, two kids and I dined here for dinner on September 14th. Duck wings were burnt. Deviled eggs were room temp. Ordered chicken and waffles for daughter and she seemed to enjoy it. Son was fast asleep so the chicken pot pie is still in play for edible. My wife and I eat low carb, so I got burger, double patty, no bun and caesar no croutons. Wife ordered mahi, broccoli, caesar same as mine. So 45 minutes after ordering, food showed up, all at once sans burger and one salad we were informed they only had enough for one caesar, so I took it in stride and got a house salad instead. Mahi was overcooked and like licking a salt pile. My burger was charred to a crisp, missing a patty, the egg was burnt, and then sauce, (mustard) missing a well. Our server checked on us before my burger came when salads where delivered, but never again. Flagged her down for a sauce to choke our food down. I get businesses being short staffed, but come on there where 6 tables. My wife is a local keto food blogger and will not post a negative review, but I will. Someone from this establishment needs to see this and try to fix it. This place should close it's doors if they can't...
