We stayed for a weekend in Dec 2024. There were two big groups there (more details later) but we did not hear any noise at night on the 4th floor. The bathroom in our room was a little strange because the toilet was in a corner but my husband and I had plenty of room. I saw other reviews saying the tub was especially small but I thought it was pretty standard for a hotel. Our room was clean, the fridge worked, but the bed was a bit uncomfortable. It seemed like the mattress needed changed out because it was lumpy.
If you haven’t stayed at a Drury, one of the best benefits is the evening “kickback”. Honestly, they serve enough food to count as dinner. In other states, you get 3 alcoholic beverages complimentary but at this property they were a dollar each due to state laws but still a terrific perk. There was an entree each evening plus sides, salad, hot dogs, and nachos. Hot popcorn is served all evening in the lobby. Breakfast includes hot items like scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy as well as yogurt, fruit and bagels. In our experience here, the staff were attentive to the food and replacing things as they ran out.
The biggest disappointment we experienced was no fault of the hotel. There was a birthday party in the pool area and the kids kept jumping in the pool then getting in the hot tub. Over and over and over. So the hot tub was cold and the adults said nothing to the children.
Now, back to the groups. There was a cheerleading group with children roughly 4th-6th grade. They were well supervised and no trouble at all. There was also a large group of adults with developmental disabilities who were participating in a State bowling tournament. Why mention this? I have taken care of people with DD for 14 years and I was ecstatic to witness the Drury staff speak to each of them as they would a typical adult. These were athletes who were beyond excited to be there. And everyone in the hotel shared their excitement and cheered them on. I was grateful to be part of this experience.
I definitely recommend staying here. Maybe in the future the hotel could monitor the pool area more closely or at minimum post signage for age limits/maximum capacity limits by the hot tub.
Lastly, the hotel is in a great location for couples like us going on bourbon...
Read moreI recently stayed at Drury Inn Louisville East, and overall, it was a very good experience with just a few areas that could use improvement.
✅ What We Loved: • Warm Reception & Check-In: The arrival was smooth and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. They even helped quickly replace our room keys when they malfunctioned, which was appreciated. • Spacious & Clean Rooms: The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable—exactly what you’d expect from a well-maintained hotel. • Great Location: The hotel is conveniently located with several restaurants like Olive Garden and McDonald’s within walking distance. • Helpful Recommendations: Staff provided great suggestions for local attractions and things to do around Louisville, which added to our experience. • Breakfast Convenience: The breakfast setup was decent with a variety of options and made the mornings easy.
⚠️ What Could Be Improved: • Drink Ticket Policy Transparency: Unlike other Drury locations, we weren’t offered complimentary drink tickets upon arrival. Later, we found out Kentucky law requires a $1 fee per ticket, but this wasn’t made clear during booking or on the website. A simple notice online or at check-in would help manage expectations. • Breakfast Quality: While breakfast was convenient, the scrambled eggs didn’t meet our expectations. I ended up using spicy salsa to make them more flavorful. • Kickback Options: The evening kickback was underwhelming compared to other Drury locations, especially those in Louisiana that offer more variety. This location had fewer food choices, which can be a downside for families relying on the evening meal. • Cleanliness in Dining Area: On one evening, I found a hair in my black beans during kickback. I reported it to the manager, and I trust it was addressed appropriately.
🟡 Final Thoughts:
Despite a couple of bumps, our stay was overall pleasant. The hotel does many things right; clean rooms, kind staff, good location, but a few adjustments to food quality and transparency around policies would make the experience even better.
I’d stay here again, but I’d love to see those small changes implemented. There are several other hotels within walking distance, so Drury needs to step it up a bit to stay...
Read moreStayed at this location for two nights as a family of 6. All I can say is this is the best hotel stay I've ever stayed at besides staying at a 5 star hotel in Washington DC. Check in was smooth, staff were friendly. Room was clean, linens were clean, bathroom was clean. Bottom of bathroom door is a little rotted from the humid bathroom and it has a door stop on the bottom but it's useless as the shower curtain is the door stop. Bathroom is claustrophobic for a suite set up to service 4-6 people. Pool is an indoor outdoor pooll. You can swim under the wall to the outside. Pool is a little small but being able to be inside or outside makes up for it. Also has an operating hot tub. Tvs are not smart TVs. It would have been nice to be able to stream my phone or log into a streaming account instead of having basic cable channels but not a big deal. Floors were very quiet even when our kids were running around there was no noise. Never heard a single person walking or running up and down the hallway despite the hotel being booked up pretty good. Breakfast was awesome. Yeah it seemed like powdered eggs but I actually like those, also had biscuits and gravy, potatoes, oatmeal, sausage, all the fixings. All hot and fresh. Manager same out during breakfast to see how everything was. All staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel also does a "dinner" kickback in the evening. When we ate there were BBQ pork sliders, pork n beans, salad, smoky Mac n cheese, hotdogs, nachos and more. If you have someone come visit but not staying they can purchase breakfast or dinner for a fee. Fountain pop and coffee available 24/7. Fresh popcorn during check in is free. Never been to a nicer place with all the perks. Especially for a family of 6 it was well worth being about $50 more expensive than nearby. Hard enough finding a hotel to accommodate us in one room, we will definitely seek our Drury In and Suites next time we are looking for a...
