El Taco loco — Restaurant in Jeffersontown

El Taco Loco has been open less than a week, occupying the space that formerly was FDKY. It's Mexican, so it's an easy decision for us to pay a visit.

The inside has been completely re-done and is much brighter and roomier than FDKY. Gone is the sectioned off area and all the firefighter memorabilia. Instead the walls are brightly and sparsely decorated in a Mexican motif.

El Taco Loco is a full service dining experience.

The menu is sizable and varies, with specialties and traditional dishes. For my first visit I got the nachos. About the nachos I've this to say: Holy Hell! That's a lotta nacho, and it was DELICIOUS. And, before someone asks, no I wasn't able to eat all of it.

The servers are very friendly and helpful. High marks for glass bottle Mexican Coke®.

The restaurant is very clean, with tables being cleared right after a table empties, and I like the team work ethic. The servers help each other take care of the tables. I love teamwork.

We've been looking for a restaurant to add to our Friday dinner rotation. I think El Taco Loco just earned a spot...

This location used to be a BBQ restaurant. This business did a great job of redecorating into a Mexican theme and keeping the beautiful laminated wood counter. The dining room is much brighter than the business that used to be here. My favorite entree is the steak quesadilla. The onions, peppers are cooked to perfection and the cheese is flavorful. I noticed the size of their soups and I plan to order one of those on a future visit. The servers always are helpful. One note to keep in mind; the server will not give you a bill at your table. This place is wonderful! Amazing food at amazing prices. My husband and I went to this place when it was still inside the grocery store on Patti ln. At the new location the atmosphere and decorations are beautiful. It is authentic Mexican food served by native Spanish speakers. The staff is so nice and do their best to understand, so I hope others are kind and patient with them as well. I have an advantage that I'm fairly fluent in Spanish. I highly recommend this place to everyone who likes Mexican food. It will soon become your favorite...
