I am on a little weekend getaway with my S/O. He read all the good reviews for this place, and he surprised me with a late lunch after driving down from Indianapolis. The only negative to get out of the way - Parking was a little frustrating. Commence with positivity. There appear to be two dining areas and two bars, which are accessible by a common midway entrance. We were greeted cheerfully, and both of us ordered a Pepsi product along with an appetizer to share of 4 Buffalo Chicken Eggrolls with a side of Blue Cheese Dressing. What a clever little creation! A touch too saucy for me, but I am picky about that. Otherwise, a great dish! We then had our entrees, which, for me, was a Bacon Turkey Melt Sandwich on toasted honey wheat bread which included a hearty side of Seasoned French Fries. He had Grilled Shrimp over Cajun Style Grits. (He lived in Texas for part of his life, so he is into grits. He said they were the best grits he's ever had.) Both of us were delighted with our choices. The menu offers just enough creative and unique items to offer guests variety. But, not too many to have to choose from. People who have trouble with decisions like us appreciate that. The prices are perfect for the hearty portions you get. I was stuffed and still took enough home to have a whole separate meal. They offer a cocktail menu that we did not indulge in today. I noticed they serve tall boy cans of beer to the table. You can enjoy them out on the plastic enclosed patio overlooking the Ohio river. While inside at the bar or, in front of impressive sports oriented display screens arranged like windows. The decor is cool. I like their suspended ceiling signage, as shown in photos. I can't think how to describe it. The bathrooms are clean and easy to find. Our server was bright, friendly, and efficient. Thanks for the hospitality! Catch you on the next...
Read moreWe had a rather large group of seven, and we were seated quite comfortably in their outdoor patio section. The server was delightful and super attentive to our group needs. Five of us arrived before the last two, and the server made sure the smiles and the drinks stayed flowing for us in the meantime.
Hands down my favourite stop of the entire trip, and an absolute must repeat visit when I return later this year. That server, and the atmosphere of it all have quickly made it a Louisville favourite for me.
UPDATE: I was saddened to see the quality of service has dipped significantly in the last five months. We returned here with much excitement and anticipation when I came back to Kentuckiana this week, and it felt like we were bothering the server just by trying to order our food. She continually took one person's drink order at a time, instead of taking the whole table's at once. She ran off several times when we attempted to place new food orders as the evening progressed as well.
The music was playing above a conversational volume, and it felt like I was at a concert needing to yell for my friends to hear me. The food was still incredible though. I order the Philly cheesesteak this time, and it had my mouth watering. They pack so much flavor into the dish it's unbelievable. Even though the service has declined, I will still be returning again as the food...
Read moreWe went there to see what all the fuss was about. It's a new ale house sports bar/ restaurant on the Ohio River in Jeffersonville. The river view is fantastic. Not busy as we went early evening. Typical bar restaurant with wide screen Tv's on every wall and usual decor. It has very high tables and bar stools , which isn't conducive for comfort of customers with physical impairments. However there was 1 area with a regular height table and chairs. The menus has a large and varied selection as well as many choices of alcoholic drinks. We all ordered Philly cheese steaks with fries, onion rings and Brussel sprouts. The sandwich was quite large and generously filled with beef, cheese & onions on a sub bun. It was very good, but the Au Jus was watery and bland. Fries were average, and grilled brussel sprouts had a unique taste with a bit of spicey warmth to them. It was a good dining experience. Our waitress was very attentive and cordial. Never had to ask for refills on drinks and she checked back to see if we needed anything else. This is a place where the younger adult crowds would hang out on game days and during the concerts and special events are held directly across the street. We will come again in warmer weather when the outdoor balcony is open aired to view the river better and try something else...
