Our family made reservations to celebrate High School graduation. We chose Osaka because it used to be one of my daughter's favorite places to celebrate special events.
Over the last few visits, we have noticed a decline in service, food quality, and cook's presentation skill. We chose to give it one more shot. A regrettable decision. Once again our service, food quality, and presentation left a great deal to be desired.
Service was next to non-existent. We tracked down random workers to request refills. We had to remind her to get the steamed rice. Our dirty appetizer, soup, and salad dishes remained on the table all the way into the serving of the actual meal. The cook had to reach over the dishes to give us our food. Once we got tired enough of looking at them, we gathered them ourselves and moved them to the empty table next to us.
The restaurant was slow so there was no excuse. In addition to the bad table service, we got overall bad customer service. There was a cook next to us, when we sat down, that was so lacking in presentation skill that you could almost say he had no interaction with his table. On the other hand there was an extremely energetic and skilled cook at one of the other tables. We privately asked our server for that cook when the time came. She made it seem as though our request could be granted. Even advised she would bring The kids cake with sparklers for the celebration. Much to our frustration, the "bad cook" showed up at our table.
Like the other table, he had little presentation skill or interaction with us. The rice was bland. The noodles had an overwhelming butter flavor, and the veggies were burnt. The meats were either over or undercooked depending on type. The scallops were gritty and had a rubber texture. You almost needed a knife (Which you don't get). The grill was not fully scraped and cleaned at the switching of foods. Which meant we all got scraps of blackened burnt food with each scoop onto our plate. The soy sauce bottles have not seen a cleaning in a while.
This was the last chance we will taking on Osaka. It has become a complete...
Read moreMy family went out to eat here not too long ago for my daughter's birthday. My daughter had been feeling depressed and we wanted to take her out to have a good time. She ended up not having a good birthday because of our experience at this restaurant. I've had problems with this restaurant before but I thought I would give another chance since the food is pretty decent and they are really close to me now. The chef didn't give the same amount of food to everyone at the table. He didn't have a lot of food to start with but he definitely gave the other people more food over my family. Also my family all got the teraki chicken and the chicken didn't taste right. It had a weird smell. My husband and daughter said the shrimp was too chewy. My family ended up getting sick but mostly me. Our stomachs all ended up hurting but I had it really bad. I called the next day to talk to the owner but ended up talking to the manager who wanted to know why I didn't talk to him because he was there. The staff there that night were either too busy or rude and after our dining experience and the staff being rude we just wanted to leave. I planned on talking to the owner because of how the food made my family sick. The manager said he would talk to the owner on Friday (January 26th) when they came in. I still have yet to hear from anyone. The manager was trying to give me a little discount after all the problems we had. I felt like we should get our money back or some of it at least. The manager said he couldn't do that so he would talk to the owner but like I just mentioned I have not heard from anyone and it has now been some time since I talked to the manager. Please be careful when dining here because I don't want anyone else getting sick and experiencing what...
Read moreThis restaurant is awful. I have eaten here several times at the request of friends and family and have never been impressed with the food or service, but my most recent experience was the worst. The service was terrible, which isn't surprising for hibachi-style dining, but it was worse than usual. I have worked in the restaurant industry, and there is no excuse for the disorganization of the servers and bussers. I assume someone complained to the management, because half-way through dinner a new server appeared and told us he was taking over and we were all getting another round of whatever we were already drinking, on the house. Free alcohol is fun but did not make the experience worth the trouble. The food was mediocre, as always. At the end of our meal (two hours later), our original server reappeared to drop off our checks, all of which were wrong. She had to redo them twice, and they were STILL not correct, so my group just worked it out among oursevles (this was not a group of 20 people, either, only five). I was relieved to be washing my hands of the situation when we left, however the nightmare continued when my debit card was not charged until two full weeks after the night we dined. I don't know if they held out until after the first of the year for budgeting reasons or WHAT, but it was annoying and in my opinion, unacceptable. I should note that I left a CASH tip, so that was not part of the hold up on the banking side. My friends' cards were also charged two weeks later. If you love the atmosphere of hibachi and are alright with food that taste just O.K., it's your place, but I will not spend my money there again, and I am typically VERY easy to please when it...
