Terrible Customer Service – Check Your Takeouts!
I wanted to support this small business, but after my recent experience, I won’t be returning. My girlfriend and I ordered squid and java rice, but when I got home—an hour away—I discovered they gave me four cups of garlic rice instead. I should’ve checked before leaving, but I trusted them to get it right.
I called the restaurant six times before someone finally picked up. The person on the phone didn’t even bother to take my phone number, instead asking me to call back in 10 minutes while they checked if the squid was left in the back. When I called again 15 minutes later, another girl answered and gave me the same story. Then a lady named Charmaine took over, repeated the same line about checking the back, and said they were busy right now, asking if I could call back tomorrow.
What kind of customer service is this? They made the mistake, yet they expect me to keep calling them back? And the excuse is that they’re busy? The whole situation was handled so poorly, it felt like they didn’t even believe me about the missing squid. Do they really think I have time to waste chasing down a $20 squid order when I live an hour away?
This place was going to be my go-to spot whenever I was in Jersey City, but after this experience, I’m taking my business elsewhere. It’s disappointing because I prefer supporting small businesses over big chains like Max’s, but if this is how they treat their customers, they’ve...
Read moreIt was my first time trying Jayhan’s Grill in Jersey City (West Side). I’ve heard good things about this place from friends. The prices were reasonable because the food was extremely great. It was just me and my aunt who went here and we got an order of bulalo, pork sisig, kare-kare and dinuguan plus the garlic rice and had sago’t gulaman to drink. I can’t say much for the dinuguan cause I don’t eat it. But my aunt said it was good compared to others who make it. I soooooo enjoyed the pork sisig it was sooo crispy and tasty. I felt like I was tasting sisig from this plce I ate at in the Philippines around the U-Belt in Manila. The bulalo was so soft and was good. My aunt said it was a bit salty for her but for me it was good. Though if you’re going to have the rest to-go there is an additional $3.00 to add more soup (sabaw) to your to-go. The kare kare was also soft and portions were very generous. They also gave bagoong on the side which I like cause I’m allergic to bagoong and they had it on the side staff were very friendly and hospitable. I like it. It really made me love the Filipino culture more. The only problem here is that there was no parking. It was only street parking which took forever to find a spot hence it’s Jersey City. But nonetheless I’d rave about this place to people and I’d definitely bring my friends here! Thank you for the great food and filling my...
Read moreJayhan's food is so good, it can easily beat Max's. You should definitely try their amazing menu.
Service-the staff at the restaurant are super polite and greet customers warmly.
However, the service can be a bit slow due to high volume. It would be great if they could improve their awareness and check on customers during their meal. Just a friendly suggestion!
Here’s my experience since none of them check on me, I got up to grab extra napkins while waiting for them to check on me. But instead, one waitress was not busy she went straight to clean the table instead again checking on customers first. I didn't want to be rude, so I let them finish.
Anyway overall they can be better. The loud talking from the kitchen can be also lower down.
It was an amazing food but hope they can take feedback...
