Samurai Sushi — Restaurant in Jersey City

I just wanna say I've been to Japan twice in my lifetime & this restaurant is helping me remember my great memories about that wonderful country. ALSO THE FOOD IS PERFECTION. I also wanna add that the lady who answers the phone is polite & cheerful & accommodated my requests when I shared with her that there is a surge in food theft from delivery drivers both on Uber Eats & Grubhub. The lady therefore made sure that all my orders reached me in untampered manner & I'm glad that restaurants owners/operators are now aware of what's going on & would be more vigilant to protect their products & reputation. On a side note: previously I ordered their tuna tartare (amazing taste & presentation) along with sushi ; this recent order consisted of buy one take one pork ramen (yum); fried tofu (so soft & yummy & authentic); poke bowl (fresh & delicious). I don't give 5 stars lightly because I have high standards when it comes to food for the fact that I've travelled the world & lived in 3 continents & my palate is hard to please. Ok, so listen. We all know that when it comes to sushi, we have to be a little more careful with where we buy from. I came across Samuri Sushi last year on Post Mates. I was hesitant about ordering from them until my friend who lives near me, ordered from there herself and loved it! And when it comes to food, I trust her taste because she’s a bit bougie like me lol. She told me that she tried this fried lobster roll that had me more than intrigued! I tried that and was hooked forever! I love ordering from them because they often have buy one, get one on Post Mates. It is always soooo fresh! I never have to worry about getting sick or feeling nauseous. It’s always super light sushi, made with yummy sauces, caviar, rice, etc. I love the Red Bull roll, the crispy rice, and so much more. I’ve yet to have something from there that I did not like! Because it’s freshly made, I’d say to always order in advance because it does take longer than other restaurants, but it is so worth the wait! Keep up the quality, SS! Please! I had lunch there, the food was great and the service lovely. I love that there is now a sushi restaurant in my neighborhood.

That being said, there was an unpleasant smell being masked by cleaning stuff. They really need to fix that, not with more smell but less smell.

There is also some stuff that annoys me because I worked in the service industry for a long time and they are easy fixes. The management needs to pay for spotify without commercials, because no one wants to hear a chik-fil-a ad while eating a $15 sushi roll. They also need to dim the overhead lights, its too bright and the walls could use some color - especially behind the bar.

Lighting, smell, and sound are three major things that restaurants use to set a vibe and if they are not thought about, well, I can cook pretty good and pay a lot less eating at home.
