Nothing but wonderful things to say about Gina, the event manager, and her staff at The Table. My wife and I had our daughter’s Baptismal reception here, and up to the date of the event, Gina was very accommodating, and responsive, with our communication.
The restaurant/venue, from what I understand, is fairly new, and some of what I can say for this place, is that parking right across the street is ample, and as of this review, free on weekends. The noise level from the restaurant to the venue is little to none.
For the event, we had a guest list of 45 people, with the brunch bar service, and 5 Kids under the age of 12. It may look like a small venue at a glance, but there is a garage wall that opens and doubles the space. Our menu consisted of: Starter Greek Salad Starter
Entree Rotisserie Roasted Chicken Black Sesame Crusted Salmon Cavatelli Broccoli in cream sauce with sausage
Sides Chive Mashed Potatoes Garlicky Spinach and Kale
All of the food was served family style, and can only say 5 stars across the board. None of our guests had anything negative to say about the food, and for us that is just a good standard. In fact, we did have a few guests rave on the Greek salad, and Rotisserie Roasted Chicken. Though we had an open brunch bar, we still had guests that went to the main bar to get other cocktails. Being one of them, the cocktails were really great in selection, price, and taste. Please, tip those bartenders well for anyone that comes.
What had brought us to this location was its affordability per person, variety of drink packages, and its offering of very delicious cocktails and key lime pie. What had gotten us to choose this location, is how Gina and her team catered themselves to my wife and me for what we were asking for leading to, and during the event.
I would also like to throw a shout to the restaurant. My wife and I ate here for brunch a few weeks prior, to check out the venue space, the food, and to drop the deposit. We met up with Jefferson, who I believe is the restaurant manager, and he gave us a tour of the location. He too, was very hospitable with our questions on what we could, and could not do at our event, like decorations and such. Nothing hanging on the wall, we could bring our own cake, and where we and our guests could park.
For its general location in Jersey City, The Table is a gem of restaurant that my wife and I hope all the best for its future, and though we live in the more Central Jersey area, we can see ourselves coming back for date...

We started with the handmade burrata appetizer was absolutely delicious. Plate licking good. Between the pesto, the tomatoes, arugula, and of course the burrata, every bite was excellent. Perfect amount of bread which is apparently a rarity since most restaurants will bring either too little compared to the size of the appetizer.
To drink, we had the Kiddie Pool & Beach Day mocktails. Both of these were also delicious, though quite small servings. The Kiddie Pool in particular was slightly frothy and had a great mouthfeel.
The entrées is where they started to lose me. We had the pork chop and salmon dishes. I should have seen the red flag when the server did not ask me how I wanted the pork prepared. It came out slightly over cooked and a little dry/tough. Pork is completely safe to eat slightly pink/rosey. I will say that it was a double cut so a good sized portion. The chop was dressed with chunks of pineapple and mango, and with the pork formed a very delicious sauce. The salmon was a cooked very well with nice crispy skin, though was a tad too salty. Both entrees were accompanied by mashed potatoes and sautéed greens. The potatoes, while tasty, were kind of watery and loose. Likewise, the greens weren't the best. Quite bland and I ended up not eating most of it.
Lastly, for dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake. I found it to be quite delicious, with a pleasant, fudgy texture. I do not think this is for those who prefer a fluffier, more traditional cake.
In terms of service and ambiance, I found the service to be average. He was friendly enough but didnt really check on us throughout our meal. I don't think he was unwelcoming or rude, just unremarkable. The restaurant was not busy so it wasn't due to attending to other tables. For the ambiance, I did find the restaurant to be very tastefully decorated with very pretty lighting. My only criticism here was there were other patrons who were yelling loudly and going in and out of some back room, seemingly from a private party. There was maybe one other 4 top seated so they stood out badly.
While I don't think it was perfect, I do think I would return possibly just for apps and a drink, or maybe to try their pizza. I was there on a Saturday night, and like I said, there was only one other table. The neighborhood isn't great, but it is attached to one of the only "luxury" apartment buildings in Westside and 2ish blocks from the light rail. No...
Read moreTERRIBLE experience last night at The Table. For reference, I’ve eaten here at least a half dozen times & loved it. However this time was so bad I can’t imagine returning. When I arrived there was a DJ blaring incredibly loud music inside the restaurant which continued from 730pm when I arrived until I left around 930pm. It was nearly impossible to hear my dinner companion over the noise. Add to that they had a party going on at the bar that was very loud. Further as I walked to my table, right in the middle of the restaurant they had a large delivery bin/wagon filled to the top with huge bags of maybe rice or sugar I’m not sure. Literal supplies in a large dirty delivery bin right on the restaurant floor where diners walk past on their way to eat! The server was sweet but highly confused & inexperienced. He had difficulty taking the order, & never offered drink refills or any other service. The steak frites ordered medium came out well done & even their steak knife couldn’t cut through it. Then to really make this experience even more awful, my dish, the shrimp & gnocchi that I order all the time & love, HAD A LARGE BLACK HAIR IN THE BOWL UNDER THE FOOD ON ONE SIDE! I informed the manager immediately & obviously didn’t eat my food & sent it back to the kitchen. The manager barely apologized as though this wasn’t the first time he’s dealt with this. I can’t imagine what their kitchen looks like if there’s hair in the food! My friend ordered dessert & we each ordered cappuccino. Her cappuccino took 15 mins to come, well after the dessert & we could see the staff struggling to figure out how to make the drink. After 15 mins the waiter came to tell me that they didn’t have the decaf cappuccino I’d ordered! Obviously they didn’t charge for my shrimp dish & did comp the dessert & coffee but it was such an incredibly BAD EXPERIENCE that I’m unsure if they are having financial issues or just very poor management. With so many dining options in JC they need to...
