I came to the West with my husband as it was recommended by a friend in the neighborhood. I'm new to Cuban cuisine, but I was really surprised! I've been to Rumba Cubana to try out.. but the West is what got me hooked to Cuban food! The Food: For appetizers, we tried their wings. Lemony, crispy on the outside, and juicy in the inside. It was cooked to perfection, generous portion. It was seasoned perfectly and fresh. We tried both Ropa Vieja with yuca fries and Vaca Frita . My favorite was Vaca Frita, as well as the yuca fries. We were too full for desserts, but we tried both red and white sangria, and I really enjoyed the Red one more. The Vibe: It's new, casual, and I get it, its Westside Jersey City. I'd recommend dimming the lights (or use warmer bulbs), replace the artificial flowers with tea candles! The Service: It was a slower night when it had just opened. Our waiter was sweet, kind, and service was fast! Verdict: We'll be back, we definitely needed a new cuisine in the neighborhood. I really appreciate the new flavor, and welcome to the...

From the energetic music to the delicious food. There are no words to describe how great this place is.
I had the garlic shrimp with tostados, and bf had Cuban steak with fried rice.
For appetizer, we had the drt rub honey habanero chicken. I didn't take the picture. We just dove right into it.
I did have the lychee rose mocktail. They didn't have the lychee, so all they basically cave me was berry and rose water syrup. I'm ok with on the cou t that I can take it an opportunity to create something with it when I came home.
The waitress was well educated on the cooking of the food as well as very comforting to communicate with.
9/10
I would make it a ten, but its part club type restaurant. We came in while it was quiet, but have no idea what it might be when it gets busy.
Whichever style you want rather high energy or not, this is a great spot to just enjoy the moment while...
Read moreI came from LA and got an Air BnB 5 minutes from here. I saw cuban food on google and knew I had to come try it.
IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!
First time I hear of a BYOB restaurant and was super intrigued by the idea.
I had the Ropa Vieja Empanadas, Salmon and an order of Maduros. The empanadas were perfectly sized. Not too big, but also not to small where you don’t actually enjoy it. The dough isnt thick and they definitely fill them. They also dont get soggy but are still full of flavor with ropa Vieja broth coming through, come with a cilantro dipping sauce, also delicious. The Salmon was perfect, not too dry, perfectly seasoned! Veggies were steamed just right and the mashed potatoes were nice and fluffy. I had a side of the maduros and they were just to die for, not too big, not too small, tender and sweet.
I love the ambiance of this place and will definitely be coming back! Love the energy and the...
