Everything about this restaurant gives you a wonderful experience. The inside is a really cozy, relaxed setting with some beautiful wood flooring, Ordering the food was very straightforward and questions about the food were appropriately answered, and the prices seemed extremely fair considering how delicious the food was. Regarding specifics, the takoyaki was to die for. It can be hard to find places for good takoyaki, this is the restaurant for that. The shrimp tempura had a very nice and kifht breading, with some delicious sauces accompanying it. The Spicy Squid Donburi had a delicious kimchi and a very squishy fried egg. It was very spicy but delicious. And the onigiri were a very nice and filling snack later on in the day. To add to all this, the owners also plan on adding some bubble tea into their menu later on, and they gave us a sample of a strawberrh tea. It tasted sweet yet natural, you can tell they didnt just use a strawberry syrup but real strawberries mixed into the drink. A top dollar bubble tea option later on once the menu is finalized.

Ramen: I’ve worked in a few ramen shops and chinese noodles shops to honestly share that this ramen was good! Amazing light clear broth, a healthy amount of vegetables with an amazing snap. I loved the sear on the chasu, it reminded me of omakase nigiri or mackerel seared with a blow torch. The presentation was very pretty! I was given a bold chili oil with it that I loved.

Tempura Shrimp: 🍤 The star of this show surprised me. I was not expecting huge shrimp. The tempura batter looks like someone crisped up Hokkaido milk bread shards that resemble glass. This was the prettiest shrimp tempura Ive ever had. Im 5’9” and feel like i have HUGE hands, refer to the photo to the side by side comparison of my hand and the shrimp! That sauce is the best I’ve ever had.

Fried Gyoza: Im a frozen Gyoza queen, I loved the size, portion, and flavor of these gyoza. The fry was perfect and you can see the golden color on the photo attached. I will try vegetable next time.

Best Japanese Eatery in Jersey City 🍜

Earlier my understanding of Japanese food was limited to SUSHI 🍣 or a RAMEN. But after my Japan 🇯🇵 trip I learned about TAKOYAKI, ONIGIRI 🍙, YAKITORI, SANDOO, TEMPURA SHRIMP🍤etc.

So, with that BASELINE. I would say this place is a great spot for a meal 🥘. You and your mate will for sure get something of your choice.

We enjoyed everything and it was freshly made to order with best quality ingredients. KARAAGE is chicken popcorn with rice 🍚 and egg 🍳, BEST CRIP level of Tempura orders. Onigiri 🍙 has various options, we order spicy 🌶️ chicken and tuna. Better than any Korea town take out store 🏬.

Service is top class and water is on the house. Staff is generous and ready to pack Togo for you.
