I don’t think I have EVER experienced such rude and deliberately mean treatment towards library patrons at any library I have visited. I am well aware the library closes at 5pm on Friday. I had seconds left to finish downloading a large file on my laptop that I was downloading for the past hour. I was already packed and standing up leaning over my laptop so that once my download is complete I can then leave. It was 4:57, I had the last seconds of the download left on my computer. Your custodian was towering over me staring at me and telling me the library is closed. I responded that I know as he can clearly see I am packed and about to leave. But he was just glaring at me and said that I need to leave in such a vile manner. Never have I ever experienced someone speaking to library patrons in such a way. Complete lack of professionalism and no way to speak to anyone. I have also worked at a library before which closed at 2am. Never have I spoken to any patrons that way and we always closed at the right time, not demeaning and talking down to patrons and yelling at them to get out. I am so disgusted and disappointed in that...
Read moreWent to use one of the desktop computers at this library branch to move files from one flash drive to another (desktop PC at home unavailable). Library staff member named Joseph accusingly asked what I was doing and advised me, before I could answer, that downloading anything to the library computers wasn't allowed and that they (the staff) were trying to figure out what I was doing.
I advised this staff member I wasn't downloading anything to library computer and was merely transferring files from one flash drive to another. Weird and unfriendly staff in general need to know what they're talking about before jumping to conclusions.
After visiting this branch a few times since, I learned not to take it personally as I've witnessed Joseph rudely snap at other employees for the most trivial things.
Additionally, library itself is very small; only DVDs available to borrow instead of both DVDs and Blu-Ray; and there's no self checkout of items like other...
Read moreMy friends and I were very appreciative of the way Annette, a maintenance and security employee at the Zabriskie library branch, took care of us. She helped us find a comfortable place to stay, directed us when we needed help to find things, and even kindly showed us where we could find free books. As a special education teacher at a school with limited resources, I was very happy to find several books that would help my students access ELA, Science, and Social Studies. These resources will not only benefit my students but save me 10-20 hours of planning. My friends and I were very impressed with Annette's help and they found resources to help them with job training and finding work based on personality. We are all very appreciative. Thanks...
