I recently had the opportunity to try the Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodles Combination at a local restaurant, and I must say, it was a rather disappointing experience.
Firstly, the dish lacked balance and cohesion. The combination of ingredients seemed random and did not complement each other well. The vegetables were overcooked and mushy, while the protein was dry and lacked flavor. It felt like the dish was hastily put together without much thought given to the overall taste profile.
Furthermore, the noodles were overcooked and clumped together. They lacked the desired texture and were sticky and unappetizing. It was clear that the noodles were not prepared with care, resulting in a disappointing eating experience. I was expecting each noodle strand to be separate and firm, but instead, they were a jumbled mess.
Additionally, the dish was excessively greasy. The noodles were swimming in oil, making it heavy and unpleasant to eat. It felt like the dish was drenched in oil, overpowering any other flavors that might have been present. The excessive greasiness left me feeling unsatisfied and regretful of my choice.
Moreover, the portion size was underwhelming. Considering the price I paid for the dish, I expected a more generous serving. The quantity of noodles and accompanying ingredients was insufficient, leaving me feeling hungry and unsatisfied.
Lastly, the service at the restaurant was lackluster. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, providing little to no assistance or guidance. It was difficult to get their attention or request any modifications to the dish, adding to the overall disappointment of the dining experience.
In conclusion, the Stir Fried Flat Rice Noodles Combination at this particular restaurant was a letdown. The lack of balance, overcooked noodles, excessive greasiness, small portion size, and mediocre service left me with a negative impression. I would not recommend this dish to anyone seeking a satisfying and enjoyable stir-fried noodle...
Read moreThis has been my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in NW Houston for years, but sadly, several recent incidents (within the past 2 years or so) have forced me to write this negative review and say to never return again.
1- The beef chunk steak (Bò Iúc Iắc) should always be tender and juicy but was sometimes dry and a little hard, which is bad enough already, but one time we ordered it, we thought we were eating rubber, and I'm serious. I kept chewing and chewing for what seemed like an eternity until the meat finally disintegrated just enough to swallow through. Is this what horse meat tastes like? Unbelievable!
2- Crunchy rice with seafood (Cơm tăy cầm đồ biển) - The entire seafood part was spoiled. Yes, every single piece of the seafood! Nasty!
3- General Tso's chicken - sometimes has too much flower that you thought the chicken has somehow escaped. But, the most recent one we ordered (just a few days ago) was the straw that broke the camel's back. Pieces that were acceptable, but then, there were pieces that were clearly very spoiled. Yes, I can smell that nasty spoiled food smell right away, you know, the smell of vomit. My unsuspecting wife bit into one and it almost made her throw up. How can you have chunks that are edible mix with chunks that are clearly spoiled? Did they dump customers' days old leftover together with freshly cooked chicken? DISGUSTING! Pissed me off thinking about it.
There are others, but they were minor enough that I can overlook, but the three major incidents above are just inexcusable. First, we thought, maybe they were having a bad day or something, so we were willing to let it pass. Second time, I was pissed already and didn't go back for the longest time. But then, we decided to give them one more chance. Their noodle soup (phở) has always been good, but with their last serving of spoiled General Tso's chicken, they finally struck out with us.
Final verdict: DNR...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant to try pho for the first time, and I brought my non-verbal, autistic 4-year-old son with me. While I was placing our order, my son became upset and started crying due to knee pain. As I waited for our food, an older lady, who had taken my order, approached my son and told him "shhh" and to "stop" crying.
I was disappointed by this interaction for a few reasons. First, she did not approach us with empathy or ask if my son was okay. Rather than offering comfort or understanding, she seemed to try to stop him from expressing his discomfort in a way that didn't acknowledge his needs as a child with autism. This is concerning because it reflects a lack of understanding about the needs of children with autism, particularly when they are non-verbal and unable to communicate in traditional ways.
I believe this situation points to a broader issue of the need for more awareness and sensitivity towards individuals with autism. It would be incredibly helpful if businesses like this one could take the time to educate their staff on how to engage with and support customers with special needs. We are all part of a community, and inclusivity can start with small gestures of kindness and understanding.
Additionally, when I requested my receipt, I was not given one, which added to my frustration. Overall, I left feeling that my son and I were not treated with the understanding or respect that we deserve. I hope this restaurant takes the opportunity to improve its approach and make all customers feel welcomed, including those...
