The Backyard Grill — Restaurant in Texas

Just amazing. I've been ordering from this location for a longgggg time! Recently over the last month I've had the absolute WORST service from the take out section. Spoken with the GM she apologized because I called first to verify the order, son came home with exactly what I called about wrong order. Headed to take it back and GM called and said no, I'll just refund it no need to come back for a side order. Never received the refund. No biggie. Tried ordering today a simple nacho and it went left and I was told by a male GM that they will be transitioning to only orders online lol....and he ask was I going to make my order on line? I said no I called to place my order per usual as I do a couple times a week without issues? He then said oh OK well I'll take it. I said oh I wasn't aware you stopped taking over the phone orders. Then he said oh maybe in the near future we are looking into that. Then I responded no thank you I'm fine. The woman GM was kind when they made a mistake. The gentleman basically tried to push me to online lol.....it's been years of me eating in and ordering ALOT. But my time is up. Food is great! Service in take out is less than desirable. And unfortunately my condition has to use take out. Enjoy the food. Do not order to go. I know I'm no one out of 100s of customers but I WAS a loyal weekly customer. Backyard Grill treat all your customers the same rather eating in or taking out.

Update.....a gentleman reached out to me and just LISTENED. Then apologized for confusion. He simply took time for me out of the 100s. And for that alone I will give it another shot! The food was never the problem it was the service by managers. Or our miscommunication. Sir thank you for reaching out. This is the type of business I want to give money to. When you genuinely...

Update: We have gone there a few times lately maybe 3 times a month and the service has definitely improved. The food great. The manager makes rounds and checks on tables and is out in the restuarant for the people to see. Glad to see a locally owned business doing great.

Update: Some friends of ours wanted to go tonight so we went. We had crawfish with medium heat. The boil could use a little more seasoning (for my taste) you shouldn't have to season the outside of the crawfish to get flavor. We also had the medallions (great by the way) and the club sandwich (also great)The service was a great improvement! Destiny was our waitress and she was awesome! Our drinks were never allowed to sit empty even though we sat outside at the farthest table away. Will be back if things continue in this direction.

Today was the 2nd time we went there for lunch. We got there about 11:35 and were seated and told our watress Amanda I believe would be taking care of us. After sitting at the table we had decided what we wanted to eat and watched as waiters and waitresses made there way around to other tables and got others drinks, refills, food etc. At 11:45 we had yet to get so much as a hello from anyone other than the person who sat us at the table. This happened once before (6 months or so ago) and we were told it was a fluke incident the waitress had gone on break and wasn't aware we were there. Ok no problem. This time I don't know the reason Nor do I care. This is not how you run a restuarant even if the food is great. We don't want anything given to us and arent looking for anything. We just will choose in the future to spend our money at places that want...

This review comes from a an Executive chef and a person that's been in the food industry for over 30 years. Service: it was my brother's birthday and I decided to take him out to and our waiter was Justin. First of all I wonder if Justin ever worked at Chick-fil-A because he was the most Pleasant and patient person I've ever met. Every time we had a request he would say my pleasure or it was awesome. When we had to exchange are Dr Pepper because it seemed to be overly carbonated he did it without it a problem and he seemed to routinely visit our table to make sure that we were okay. Food: we had the barbecue stuffed jalapenos and they were awesome!!!! It was very unique in flavor and it kept me wanting more. I had a burger I think was called The Works I believe and my brother had a combination dinner which had ribs and Sirloin medallions. The burger was fresh moist and juicy and hot and and the combination platter what's great the ribs we're full of flavor tender and juicy( however I do wish that they were smoked) and the medallions were just right. It seems as though the cook must have had extreme amount of pride and making sure the customers got what they pay for. I had been here before and they seem to be very consistent so I would like to thank my server management and the cook for a great experience and it goes to show you you don't have to have a gourmet experience to have great food you just have to have a set of employees that simply care.
