I have been a long time customer of this place, their biryani is good and consistent. I am disgusted with how this establishment overcharged me and handled the situation, hope it’s not their standard practice. I order over the phone and for the past few pickups, I felt that the bill was a little more than it should be. This time, I asked the cashier how much each item was, because they don’t provide an itemized receipt. (1) I looked at the menu on the counter and the guy said those prices are old, really? (2) he started giving me prices by looking at the register screen, so I wrote them down on the receipt they provides and there was a $4.49 difference. He went and got the manager(big bald guy). Instead of apologizing and giving me a refund, this guy started getting defensive. (3) he said I shouldn’t make a big deal about a few dollars +/-, so if I grabbed $5.00 from the register then they shouldn’t care right ?. (4) he said other places automatically charge gratuity and I should be happy they don’t do that, who charges gratuity for take-out ?. (5) he said the system hasn’t been updated and that caused the error, the guy read the prices from the system so how is that possible?. The argument kept going in circles and the manager just walked away to the back without giving me my money. I shared my experience with my friends/family and this place has lost our regular/catering business. I wonder if this is their normal practice and what the math would look like if they are doing this with a lot of the transactions. Out of curiosity, I did an online order and saw the same $4.49 price difference. So if you order take-out from this place, I recommend doing it online vs the phone. Not much of a clean establishment, I saw the same person cleaning the floor, tables, serving the tables and no gloves. Even if they wore gloves, I doubt they would change them between cleaning floors and serving food. I am attaching screen shot of the online order vs what they charged me and I wrote down the item amounts the clerk told me on the receipt(which did not add up). This could have been simply handled, but the managers defensive behavior made it look like I caught them doing something they weren’t...
Read moreI usually try to avoid giving 1-star reviews, but my experience at Biryani Pot was disappointing enough to warrant it. I understand how hard it is to run a restaurant, but it felt like the management here was least concerned with anything other than their big-ticket party orders. I was invited to a wedding anniversary celebration for a close friend, who went above and beyond to host my wife and me. Sadly, the restaurant didn’t meet even basic expectations.
Starting with service, no one came to take our order for a long time. Despite requesting multiple times, we were ignored until eventually, two staff members showed up. Even then, some of the items we ordered never arrived. It was clear that their priority was the large party orders they had that day, and smaller tables like ours were completely neglected.
As for the food, all the non-vegetarian items we tried (except the goat curry) were disappointing. The meats were dry and lacked any juiciness, making the dishes underwhelming. When I shared my concerns about the food and service, the staff over the counter admitted the issues but blamed it on their focus on big orders. Instead of addressing our experience, he merely asked us not to leave a negative review and said we’d be "taken care of" next time. This response felt dismissive and insincere. If they couldn’t address the issues in real-time, what guarantee do I have they’ll “take care of us” next time? They didn’t even offer a written confirmation or any assurance to stand by their words.
The only reason I’m giving even 1 star is for the cleaning staff member, who was attentive and went out of his way to help us during this entire experience. I forgot his name, but he truly stood out in an otherwise disappointing visit, and I promised him I’d mention his good work. It’s frustrating to see a restaurant neglect smaller groups in favor of big parties, especially when they know there’s a problem but still choose to...
Read moreWe ordered chicken pepper fry, chicken 65, onion samosa, boneless goat biriyani, and hydrabadi chicken biriyani. Let's start with the appetizers. The chicken 65 was not crispy, for a $15 appetizer (a price higher than an award-winning chicken 65 dish at Zyka), it was a major let down. I've never had chicken 65 covered in some type of sauce, I was not a huge fan though it was edible. The onion samosa was very obviously frozen. When I bit into it, all of the stuffing came out immediately and the shell was not soft like a normal samosa. The chicken pepper fry was the best thing I had there. It was crispy and the masala was flavorful. I could taste the pepper.
For a place with biriyani in it's name, their biriyani was just okay. The boneless goat biriyani cost $25 and it tasted like absolutely nothing. We tried mixing it around hoping to God that the masala was at the bottom and still it tasted absolutely flavorless. The mutton in the biriyani was salty, but when eaten with the flavorless rice, it tasted alright. Overall, it was NOT worth $25.
After tasting the hydrabadi chicken biriyani, it felt like they're just using the same rice and mixing the meat in later. But the hydrabadi biriyani actually had masala at the bottom so it was fine when it was tossed, but still not as flavorful as a biriyani should be. I didn't even want to take the leftovers home. The customer service was good as the waiter attended to us often, but the servers didn't know what we ordered and mixed it up a few times. It was all good though.
