Amigos Mex Grill — Restaurant in Johns Creek

DON’T WASTE YOUR COINS ON THIS PLACE! I visited this restaurant for the first time ever on March 29th of this year. I must say, on that day I had the best sangria margarita ever! The server made it on the rocks, as I requested. It had so much flavor and yes, I tasted ALL the liquor. The food was such a disappointment tho. I had enchiladas supremas. The chicken was bland and the green sauce that came on it tasted sour and just made the whole dish unappealing. Fast forward to May 5th (Cinco de Mayo). My partner and I decided to give this establishment another chance only because of how good the drink was. BIG MISTAKE! I asked the server, which was a different one than the first time, for the same drink. She was adamant that it didn’t come on the rocks…only frozen. I showed her the pics and she still insisted it could only be made frozen. When it got to the table, I took one sip and immediately knew that I would have to order a shot of tequila to add to it. It tasted like a slushee from 7-11 with a shot of wine in it. This time, I tried the steak tacos. The meat was bland and rubbery. The other 3 people in my party also didn’t like their food. This establishment needs to invest in trained chefs, because their current ones are putting out school cafeteria tasting dishes. 2 out of 10. I stopped by Amigos Mex Grill today. I was greeted by the most professional hostess Laura. I wanted to see if 5 stars was true. Well guess what? The 5 star review is as "true blue' as trim around my margaritas glass - for real! Laura & Robert consistently checked in on me to ensure that I was satisfied.

I usually dine in at one of my local Johns Creek favorite Mexican restaurants. As of today Amigos Mex Grill is my spot! Funny story, I tried to take a before & after pic. The before pic didn't happen because oh my God, my food was sooooo fresh and delicious that I ate every bite of my ground beef flour tortillas topped with grilled shrimp yum! The Mexican rice, refried beans, guacamole, queso, and salsa was just as fresh & amazing!

Robert, Robert, Robert, you stopped by my table to ask me how I liked my Mango Margarita. NO, Robert I did not like my Mango Margarita because I ❤ LOVED my drink. In fact, I would have ordered another if I did not have to drive home.

This place could've easily been a 5. Food was very good. We got the fried buffalo chicken tacos. also, got the chicken torta, Which was one of the best we've had in the area. Place was clean. My only issue is the wait time for cocktails was about 20 minutes per drink. I understand training someone, but trying to train them while you have first time actual customers just was a bit frustrating. Our server was attentive, very nice, and trying hard, she was just new. She will be great once she gets the swinb of things. Training someone new for drinks that customers are paying for isnt a great business model. We review food all over the country. Eating Mexican like 2-3 times a week. The length of service and trying to convey drink orders was frustrating to where we almost left. Glad we stayed and tried the food thanks to the new server.
