A friend of mine raved about this restaurant and encouraged me to give it a try. Upon receiving her recommendation I went online and read all of the outstanding reviews. I thought for sure it would be a great experience so I decided to take my friend with me in honor of her birthday. When we arrived we were standing outside because I wanted to take a picture of their sign. Within minutes one of the staff members instructed us to go inside as outdoor dining wasn’t an option-way too much presumption. Before we could get fully settled in our server was breathing down our throats as she repeatedly came back and forth to our table to ask if we were ready to order. When we placed our order for the drinks and appetizers she asked if we were ready to order our entrees as well. She seemed irritated when we said that we needed more time to select our entrees. She recommended an appetizer to us that was nothing more than a bowl of season bread pieces served with honey and yogurt. We asked if we could change the appetizer to a different one to which were informed that the kitchen was closed. It was 8:28pm. Our server was wearing her mask just above her upper lip and her long thick hair wasn’t tied back. We placed an order for the salmon entree only to be told 10 minutes later that they were out of salmon. We ended up agreeing on the chicken which was okay. The red lentils were sticky and seemed stale. We barely ate the appetizer yet the charge was still on the check we received. I mentioned that it was my birthday but our server never acknowledged it or brought a dessert out for my friend-huge turn off. The food here is so good that one of the staff members came through the front door with two large pizza boxes and a bag of food and headed straight to the kitchen-customers shouldn’t see that-and to make matters worse we saw staff members openly eating pizza by the bar area as we were walking out. All of the staff were young and seemed most concerned with closing shop and heading out. Everything felt forced and rushed. I won’t be patronizing this restaurant ever again and what an embarrassment to have had such a terrible experience on a night that was meant to celebrate my...
Read moreUnbelievable how terrible the service was here. We love Ethiopian food and decided to give this place a try. What a disappointing first experience at Ethiopiques because the food was pretty good (hence the extra star). Though Some of the dishes were very oily like in the wats (tibs and mushroom wat). It took over 45 mins just to get drinks, half of our groups’ drinks didn’t come until our dinner was served, which was an hour and half wait. And one persons dish came when everyone was almost done, 2 hours after we arrived. The kids were starving. We asked for them to at least bring out a small plate with one roll of injera and even that could not be delivered for over an hour. If you are short-staffed, you should not just be seating table after table nonstop with no regard for patrons. Other tables were getting their food before us that were seated after us. Our waitress was non-existent and we had to go to the bar multiple times just to find someone to get water refills, and drinks that had been ordered but never delivered. We heard excuse after excuse for everything, “they ran out of veggies, can’t find any toilet paper for the restroom just use table napkins, we don’t have enough awaze and need to save it for other guests/staff??? What!?” So many dumb excuses. Literally the ONE substitution we had made to the platter was ignored. They ran out of half the drinks on the menu. the beers were brought warm to the table and unopened. How are you running a business?
I understand businesses have to make money, but piss poor service to a larger group b/c you already know you’re getting a large group tip added into the bill is NOT the way. It’s not like we just showed up, we made a reservation the day before so there was ample time to prepare for a group of 10 (including kids). Very disappointing b/c I’m sure it was a nice place pre-covid. However I would not recommend this place when there are so many delicious Ethiopian restaurants in and around atlanta with better prices and MUCH better service. Literally the worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. If you have 4 hours to spend then go, otherwise probably best to just get take-out if you...
Read moreWhat a time we had at @ethiopiquesatl in John's Creek on Thursday. To be honest we have never eaten anywhere in John's Creek but we are convinced after eating here we will be back.
Let's start with the drink: Guava Margarita ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This drink was absolutely perfection!! It was like the perfect song on a sunny day!!
Doro Wot Fried Wings These wings were spicy, juicy, and Crispy at the same time with a Doro wot coating that you have to taste for yourself. It's amazing!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lamb Sambussa Basically has a wrap like a spring roll with beautifully seasoned lamb on the inside. Must try for lamb lovers!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ethiopiques Special ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ House special Platter with choice of tips (two meats) and five veggie choices. We chose the salmon and steak for our Meats and they were delicious!!
We didn't end up having dessert because after that platter we were stuffed and wiped put.
I also found our that on Sundays they do a traditional Ethopian coffee ceremony that we will have to go back and visit for. The customer service was great, the restaurant is beautiful. Definitely would highly recommend!! We will be back soon!!
