I really wanted to like this place. Do not usually write reviews even if its bad service because I also work in the food industry. I ordered a to-go ramen bowl last night at 8:30 from a very nice asian lady. Got home at 9pm (they close at 9pm). I ordered the Nin Niko Tori 2/5 spice level and i had sinus issues but i didnt want to order something bland but also something with a slight kick (i have a high spice tolerance). She recommended the 2/5 spicy bc there was slight spicy kick. I got home and i think on accident, maybe the measurement was off, but it was intolerable and my family also said it was intolerable (in our culture we eat very spicy foods for reference) but i understand mistakes happen and i was not upset just a bit sad that i had to toss it out and it was $20. I tried calling that night and I could not call them because they were closed so i called the next day (their phone number doesnt work) so i went in around 3:40/45 the next day and a taller guy with a brown apron, lesser hair, and white shirt approached me and i very politely and nicely explained to him my situation and he immediately cut me off and said “i dont know what you want me to do here” and became very defensive and i once again understand people have bad days and i then explained how i paid $20 for ramen and he said “well i have no way of verifying that” (they have newer POS systems and I have the card I paid with) had very off-putting body language. My sister was with me and tried to help clarify that we weren’t upset at all and we understand a mistake can occur and he cut us off again and said “well i see what you’re trying to do here, you dont need 2 people to ask for a refund and that’s not gonna work, i am not going back and forth with you on this”. I continue to be nice and explain that is not my intention and I would just like some kind of reimbursement and his body language became very defensive and a bit degrading saying “i am NOT going back and forth with you this was LAST NIGHT” and did anything to end the conversation and get us to leave. 0/10 for everything, having worked in the food industry this is absolutely not any way to treat any customer whether you spend $5 or $20 or $100! Will never be...
Read moreUpdate: Sadly I have to update my review. I feel like this is the beginning of the end of my absolute favorite place. It used to be Ramen by Hajime. My entire family went here for years and we used to adore it. We'd go so often the staff became family. I used to recommend this place to everyone and even help other guests on their first time. I spent my birthdays and special occasions here. The staff is still absolutely amazing, but the owners are making terrible decisions. They keep changing the menu and removed some of the best options and now nickle and dime you for every little thing. The quality has gone down and it feels like it is trying to be just another commercialized ramen chain with nothing special to offer. I don't understand why restaurant owners have to ruin a good thing that is working and thriving. If I wanted to go to just any old ramen chain I'd go to Jinya or somewhere closer. I used to drive 30+min multiple times a week, but sadly I'm just not sure how often we'll be back now. Please, whoever is making these decisions, please reconsider and go back to the old menu. Add more options if you want, but don't change everything that was loved by so many and working. I'm so disappointed and can't recommend this place anymore which is so sad. I'm only giving 2 stars because I adore the staff and hope things will turn around, but I've seen this scenario so many times before in the restaurant industry :(
‐--------‐----------------------------- Pre-menu changes review: My husband and I are regulars and love it so much! The food and service is always amazing! We absolutely love their ultra spicy ramen! ❤ Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some high quality...
Read moreOk so I came back a second time. I couldnt figure out how to post a new review so I'm editing the old one. (See first review below)
My second time here was a much better experience. I ordered the tonkatsu again to try. The noodles were perfect. The egg was perfect and the chashu was perfect. Very very good the second time around. I also ordered some takoyaki, and they were so good. So yes, my second experience was far better than the first. I will definitely be visiting more often. :D
(First review)
First time here, I dont know what I was expecting...but I was definitely not expecting 70s rock to be playing... idk about anyone else but if I'm going some place "authentic" there better be hello kitty theme song or Japanese national anthem playing when I eat ramen. But it was clean, and service was really fast.
Onto the food, I order tonkatsu ramen. I figure if it's my first time I should try original ramen. I watch a lot of food shows and the description was...different from my experience. The pork cutlet was good, I liked that a lot. The egg was good on the inside but a bland on the outside. Taste like regular unsalted egg.. the broth, almost like a salty miso. It was good.
Lastly, the noodles... I think they were still under cooked. I understand al dente, So I let them sit in the broth to cook a little more, as I try the egg and cutlet. Yet the noodles just seemed.....not noodle like....
