Working in the food industry for over 8 years, means, I "see" things. Most of the time, I try and chalk it up to the fact that that not so sanitary item or action has probably happened to me and others multiple times in one day, I'm not going to die from it. But, when I see something that is hazardous to your health, I'm one who can not sit quiet.
My fiancé and I were about to eat our meal here the other night, but after a series of events, we ended up leaving with no appetite left.
• First thing we saw was a raw sausage patti under the fridge. (Not a huge deal, day shift must of dropped it and forgot to grab it)
• My fiancé then went to the bathroom and saw the health score of an 87. (Not the end of the world, I never went over to see what was non compliant, but, I kind of wished I did now.) I know most of the health inspections code. Some of the items are like not having a thermometer in fridges and freezers, not having all cleaning products properly labeled, etc. So, who's to say the 87 was for a "major" item.
The tipping point (after a few other issues, I haven't mentioned) was I had ordered an oj, and it tasted a little off. They might have just washed the oj container or my cup recently, but it tasted like cleaning products. So I kindly asked for a Pibb instead. The server took my glass, went to the fountain and dumped the oj out, rinsed the cup with water from the fountain machine then put my cup (which I had been drinking from the glass rim, not a straw the entire time) with his bare hands, into the ice bin, scooped up more ice and topped it with Pibb. 😳
This. This is NOT ok. How many other people has he done that with? My mouth was on that glass! Plastic cups can become brittle over time of being washes and sanitized. (Did any of you notice that all if not most of the locations now have new glasses?) So, pieces of the cup can start to chip away, especially if you scoop ice with them.
Did you know that it is normally a "below the belt" side work for corporate restaurants to "burn" the ice at least twice a month? This means, you pour hot scalding water into the ice bin and melt everything down until it's empty. Then typically you would bleach or clean the bin and drain. Making sure there is no debri, mildew, mold, etc. If this is a corporate side work item, does Waffle House follow these?
The worst of it was when I finally went to the counter to speak with someone about how we would not be eating our meals. She automatically asked where my ticket was. We hadn't gotten one yet I told her. She said, "No worries, it's on us. Sorry."
She never asked me why, didn't inquire about what had made us not want our food, anything. So, when I decided to voice it anyways, the responsible thing to do... she again said sorry and they were taking care of our meal. I didn't hear anything action-airy, like, "Thank you for letting us know, we'll be sure to correct that immediately." (The cup thing) Or, "That is not how we are supposed to dispense ice, thank you for letting us know."
Instead, I felt as though she was just trying to usher us out. The other woman, possibly the manager was in the back. Maybe avoid the manager from hearing? I now have doubts. (The main reason I am writing this)
@wafflehouse Please get this place back in order. We love coming here and always enjoy the food and environment. It's not to be a fine dining experience, but, that doesn't mean it can't be a five star restaurant. At this point, It's a health hazard.
Should you have any questions or if I can assist in any way, please...
Read moreWaffle House. It's that one friend you don't want to associate with, but end up spending the night with. Anthony Bourdain praises the establishment; I guess I do too, somewhat. This time it was after watching Star Wars, but I've been to this place a couple times already.
It started off a normal visit, seated quickly and the waiter quickly came to assist us. We ordered, it was getting late and thought a little about eating healthy, so I got the fiesta omelet w/ egg whites.
Then the wait began. It was around 11pm, and we waited a solid 30 min before getting our order through. The group that ordered before even left before the food even arrived. Like yeah, I guess that Waffle House is popular at night for the munchies, but I shouldn't be waiting 30-40 minutes for a plate of fast food.
The food arrived, and I wasn't impressed. Like we're talking Waffle House quality, I was still unimpressed. It didn't even look like an omelet. It looked more like a fried egg, some parts were cooked more than other sections. The filling was cooked well and the American cheese was melty, the ham mushrooms and onions were all cooked evenly and caramelized. Also, the omelet was small. I was paying $6 for this small omelet, when I could be getting a large everything hash browns for around $5.
I've visited this place a lot of times, but this visit was disappointing. I ordered an overpriced omelet, something I don't normally get here (only get hashbrowns and the $1 burger). In the past, the wait was also an issue, so I really hope this branch could learn to speed up the...
Read moreOk I get it , Waffle House has an amazing BRAND, but this Waffle House in particular has given me a bad opinion of Waffle House . I understand no one is perfect , but one thing that upset me in a major way , was this morning , my wife called in our order 2 Allstars scrambled eggs (dry) bacon and hash browns , she picks up our food , get home one order was perfect , he second had cheese onions and what appeared to be mushrooms all of which we do not eat. So she calls back to get the one plate fixed , they say it’ll be ready by the time she got there , it was ready , but when she got home we noticed they still put cheese in the eggs , at this point my wife was fed up , all we wanted was to eat some breakfast. So I call the store , and got no answer , so I drove up there again , asked to speak to a manager and explained the situation , he did apologize and attempted to make it right , with this being our 3rd trip in 20mins , I no longer wanted a Waffle I just wanted my all star . So they make the food , bag it and I’m on my way home , well I get there and there’s no bacon . Seriously ? Are our listening skills that bad? So at this point I just have to boycott this Waffle House . These are the simplest meals to make and due to someone’s incompetence this turned into a very frustrating 3 trip unsatisfactory meal. I just don’t understand . Please get it together this is...
