Mazatlan Mexican Restaruant — Restaurant in Johnson Creek

My family and I wanted to try a new restaurant on our way back home after an event and picked this place as generally Mexican restaurants can be a pretty good hit. Let me say, I’d rather go hungry than ever eat here again.

The menu is large which was nice so everyone could pick what they wanted, however, there were some weird options like cheese and egg quesadilla. My father and I got the taco salad (chicken for myself and beef for my dad) and everyone else got a burrito, chimichanga, or something similar.

When the food was brought out by another server, he had no idea what he was bringing out and handed us all SUPER hot plates without a warning. My taco salad with chicken ended up being chicken soup with the broth and fat completely dissolving the fried shell that the salad comes in. My father’s taco salad looked like slop you feed to a cow. The rest of my family (refer back to what they ORIGINALLY ordered) got basically the same thing - one enchilada with a whisper of rice and beans. Get this - we all tasted the red sauce on the enchilada and it had marinara sauce on it.

We tried to talk to the servers but it was like talking to a brick wall. I refused to eat my food and grabbed someone who seemed to be the manager and had my food taken off the bill. Everyone else felt a little sick after the food too. The bill was OUTRAGEOUS for the type of food we got too.

Don’t waste your time here and go to taco bell next door that’ll actually have some substance...

I decided to stop in and try this place to just see how it was. I'm a Texas transplant so I always go in with low expectations for Mexican food in Wisconsin. Initial thoughts were that the place was clean and nice. We were seated promptly and our drink order was taken. Started with water so I could get a chance to browse the menu and see what I might like to try. Waiter was back in a flash and asked if I wanted anything else. I asked for a minute. I'm pretty sure he gave me just that. A minute. So I decided I'll just go basic with a margarita. So I started to look at the menu. I looked for any of my traditional Mexican favorites but I found the menu pretty basic. The waiter brought the margarita and asked if I was ready. I told him no and that I needed a minute. Sure enough, a minute later he's back. So I just went with the last thing I was looking at. I was a tad annoyed but decided he was just over attentive. I was wrong. That would be the last we would see of him. Our food was brought out by someone else. Very bland. I tried to give it a chance but I think it got worse as I ate. We finished and ended up waiting at our table for at least 30 minutes without a check. It was not busy. I watched the staff sit around and chat and look at their phones. Too expensive! A small ramekin of guacamole is eight bucks, most dinner dishes are upward of fifteen bucks plus. Last time I came the service was terrible and the waiter who took our order didn't speak any English, my kid ordered a cheeseburger and it came out with no cheese. I had to explain to the waiter 3 times what was wrong and then had to have someone else come explain it because he didn't speak any English. All this for a stupid cheeseburger! Then the waiter never came back to check on us, I had to physically get up out of my seat and go ask somebody for a soda refill. My chimichanga dish was good, but seriously overpriced. Also why do they have so many staff here? There's no need for it for a restaurant this size. There's probably 20 other mexican restaurant options within a 15 mi radius of this place. Sorry to say that I won't return here and will go...
