Wow, what a find for a truck driver or traveler. If you live locally you have probably already been here, and I’m not sharing a anything new. I ordered the fried walleye and shrimp dinner. The shrimp was tasty but otherwise basic fried shrimp, but for a couple dollars for 12 it’s a great add on. The walleye is really good and served in 8 oz portions. Let’s talk about portion size for a quick second, everything here is super sized. My dinner was paired with a salad (basic but fresh) and a dinner roll bigger than my fist served hot. It had a slight sweetness and with some butter was really good. I can eat quite a bit, but was only able to finish half or less of the French fries that came served on its own plate. For $21 I got more than enough good high quality freshly made food. There are daily specials to choose from. From where I was sitting, everything coming out of the kitchen looked like something I would consider ordering in a future visit. When you get up to leave, you will have your chance to go through the bakery line. It’s a great selection and worth stopping for if you aren’t ready for a full meal. Cookies are the size of your hand fully spread, I would guess a full 8 inches in diameter and most of them are just $1.75 each. The eclairs and cream puffs looked amazing and were equally super sized. Enough to share with at least one other person. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the restaurant was busy on a Sunday afternoon. But wait there is more. Make sure to check out the convenience store attached for more desserts, snacks, drinks. souvenirs, cured meats and cheeses. There is truly something for everyone at this travel center. Truck drivers get there early. There are quite a few places to park, but there is also an outlet center next door too. There wasn’t a huge selection of stores but the Nike store had some really good items at great prices. This is a place I would come too every time I drive through.

Wonderful little diner with friendly staff and a splendid bakery. I was passing through Johnson Creek and read the reviews for this place. I am normally not a huge fan of Diners. As it seems as though if you have been to one, then you have been too them all. However this diner was a bit of a standout. I ordered the special of the day which happened to be a turkey dinner. The turkey itself was moist and juicy, which was probably helped by the fact that it was smothered in gravy. The mashed potatoes and gravy was, well simply mashed potatoes and gravy. Nothing overly special. However the restaurant really shined when it came too the soup and sides. The turkey dinner came with the soup of the day, which was chicken and dumpling. The chicken and dumpling soup was very good and had a wonderful flavor accompanied by large, moist, wholesome dumplings. The only real downside was the lack of chicken. The soup definitely needed more chicken, however the flavor was excellent. Another standout was the coleslaw. The coleslaw had a sweet flavor along with a unique sort of lemony bite. I enjoyed it quite well. On top of this the meal also came with a homemade dinner roll. The dinner roll was huge! About the size of a soft ball and not to mention that the dinner roll was fresh out the oven! It was warm, soft, and just melted in your mouth! While waiting for my food, I went and ordered an appetizer of deep fried mushrooms. These too were awesome! The mushrooms were fresh and full of flavor! I didn't get a chance to try their bakery items, but they looked great! There was a large line of people just waiting too buy bakery items, so I am assuming they must be good. One more plus to this restaurant is the fact that it is a truck stop. Therefore there is plenty of room to park and rest for a while if you happen to be on a long road trip.

I wish I would have known about this restaurant years ago. I’ve driven by hundreds of times. It is a throwback to a 1960s truckstop. I had the Turkey special for $7.25. Came with homemade soup or salad. I got a delicious bowl of chicken dumpling soup and ordered a side salad for $2.25. It was nothing fancy, but palatable. The dinner was fantastic if you ignore all modern nutritional advice. I was in Heaven. Stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade carrots, gobs of gravy and a humongous dinner roll. I wouldn’t eat here regularly unless you are very physically active. They have a great looking bakery also, but I resisted that temptation. It’s four years later, I ate here around 11 pm. I had a fantastic, stick to your ribs breakfast. I wouldn’t make a habit of eating it, but I had the chicken fried steak, hash browns with onion and cheese, two fried eggs, and coffee for $14. The waitress was fantastic, hustling about like a whirlwind. It’s a flashback to when people took pride in their work. The chefs were great.

Food: 3/5 (Food was okay) Service: 5/5 (Phenomenal service!) Atmosphere: 3/5 (decent environment) Great experience at The Pine Cone Restaurant. Located in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, this restaurant is truly a friendly community diner. Great spot to go if you live in the community or if you need to stop after a long drive. The food was okay. I had the two chops and american fries. Unfortunately, the food was lacking in seaaon, but the grill was utilized. I enjoyed the mushroom soup, but I wish the mushrooms were diced smaller. The bakery looked amazing! The service was phenomenal! There were plenty of service staff to match the large crowd of customers. I love how the staff talked to the customers, explained the menu, and kept the water cups full! Very pleasant service! The atmosphere was okay. I was bothered by the number of flies flying around, but the environment was overall clean. Great experience at The Pine Cone Restaurant!
