I've been meaning to stop in Bar'Lino for some time now, especially after I found out it was a "sister" restaurant of my favorite spot, Massimo's. Tonight, my partner and I went to a dance recital and didn't have time to eat beforehand. We decided in advance that we would go to Bar'Lino afterwards since it's so close to our house. Unfortunately, the show ran later than we thought, which meant our arrival time would be 30 minutes before closing. We called to make sure it was okay to still come in and whoever answered the phone assured us that we were welcome. Upon arrival, there were still several tables seated. We sat down and were told that fresh focaccia bread would be right out. I could've filled up on the bread, it was so delicious. We ordered several things, from soup and salad to entrees. The waiter asked if we wanted it to come out paced, to which I said he could bring it out all at once if that was the most convenient since we were aware that it was close to closing. He assured us that there was no rush. He brought out pasta e fagioli, misto salad, and the broccoli di rabe appetizer first, followed by meatballs and the mezze rigatoni with pink vodka sauce. Everything was hot (except the salad, obviously) and more importantly DELICIOUS. Like so delicious I wanted to cry. The manager stopped by the table to make sure everything was going well. At no point did we feel rushed, receiving the best quality of service and food. I am so happy we chose Bar'Lino to finish off our night out. I can't wait to go...
Read moreMy son took me here for my birthday and I was excited to try this fairly new restaurant in Johnston. The restaurant is large and had many empty tables, but the bar was packed and I chalked it up to being Memorial Day when many people have cookouts and barbecues at home. The waiters were excellent, and one brought out bread and a container with olive oil, red pepper flakes, and s&p. I was a little disappointed that there were no herbs to add to the olive oil for dipping the bread, but the oil was very good by itself. My son ordered the eggplant pizza and I, the shrimp diabolo. This is one of my favorite dishes and I was eager to taste it. But meh...the sauce looked to be homemade but only had a one-note flavor, no depth at all. My son said the eggplant on the pizza wasn't cooked through and he had to cut it with a knife and fork. I saw who looked to be the owner or manager asking the table next to us how they were enjoying their dishes, and I remarked to my son, "I hope to God he doesn't ask us." But maybe he should have so that we could talk about our dishes with him. My son has worked in several restaurants and being kind said it could be the chef that day was new or a substitute. I had high hopes this would be another favorite place to eat but it turned out to be a...
Read moreGreat experience for a dinner with my girlfriends for a Thursday night dinner date. I arrived first and was immediately seated followed by water and foccacia bread. Loved that I didn't need to wait for my party to arrive.
I ordered the blood orange cosmo. It was so good I had 2. 😉
My friends started to arrive and she ordered I believe the basil gimlet. They waiter came back and suggested a different cocktail at the suggestion of the bartender made with watermelon puree. She welcomed giving it a try and was thrilled with it. The bartender stopped by to thank her.
For dinner 3 of us had the Mediterranean sea bass which we LOVED. The 4th had the Salmone entree which she loved including the polenta cake. She never had polenta before so she was happy she tried it.
I closed the night out with the tiramisu martini. It was delicious and served in a chilled white martini glass with a decorative motif of cocoa powder on top.
Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures but my friends and I loved the experience and will definitely be...
