I stayed at the hotel for a business trip and dined at the bar my first night and ordered togo the following night. I will commend the staff for being courteous and attentive. The dining room had a nice holiday ambience and the wine list was considerable. The food on the other hand was less desirable and over-priced . I ordered ceviche and a beet salad at the bar. The ceviche had three thinly sliced raw red onions for decoration. I'm not sure what juice was used to cook the white fish, but it tasted like pickle juice or vinegar. It had diced pickles or relish in the mixed fish and overall was an unsuccessful attempt. Now, I am a Miami local and have some of the best ceviche available to me, so the bar is set high. The beet salad was decent. The following night I ordered the avocado hummus and heirloom tomato salad. The salad had fried mozzarella had crab meat on top that smelled too fishy, the tomatos were cherry tomatoes halved with salad greens -- very bland, bad smell and lacking flavor. The hummus was not bad... garlic hummus with deep fried pita and sliced avocado on the side. Not much flavor to the hummus besides garlic, and the avocado was in desperate need of lemon juice and salt. I think the menu has many options, but need to revamp...
Read moreI spent the weekend at the hotel for a convention. I paid $1 per day to have breakfast included for my stay and while the breakfast was fantastic? However the reason for this review was the evening services.
Dinner & night bar services over the weekend were disappointing. I waited over 20 minutes to order. And when I finally ordered it took 45 minutes to get my burger. The rest of the food came out about 10 minute after ordering. If the restaurant was busy I would understand, however they had a small handful of tables. The waitress was a sweet heart, and because I have full breakfasts for my stay. I am giving 2 stars. Otherwise it would have only gotten one.
Edit: I spoke with the head chef the following day after the incident. (I did not realize at the time the man at the bar who I was sitting beside was the head chef). And I had mentioned why I refused to order dinner or anything other than an ice tea. He went back and questioned his chef and they admitted they had in fact taken 45 minutes to give me my dinner the night before. The head chef comped dessert (best cheesecake I’ve ever had) and my tea and apologized for the mistake. I added 2 stars thanks to wonderful customer service...
Read moreWe were going here to eat dinner before a concert. We booked our table for 5:30 thinking that would be plenty of time for the 7:30 show. It took 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks. It was 6:55 and we still didn't get our food so I went to the manager to tell them we had to leave in 15 minutes and we didn't get our food yet. When we did finally get it, the food was good but we had to hurry and eat it and some in our party didn't to even finish their food because we were rushed. The 2nd round of drinks took forever too. As a former waitress, I understand how things can go but the server never updated us about when our meal was coming and we had to track her down every time we needed another drink. I asked for the drinks again at one point, and she said that they didn't come up yet at the bar. I think that if it is taking that long, you would tell the bartender it has been awhile and you would communicate with us as to the status of the drinks. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and she didn't seem to care that the drinks and food were...
