Edit: great selection of burgers, your choice of how the meat is prepared and some delicious waffle fries! Updated star rating.
This was one of the best local breweries I've had the joy to visit. Unlike the previous ones I adore, HBC seemed more intimate and scaled down compared to a previous locale I attended. Why would that matter? Because HBC felt so much more down to earth, neighborly and just more integrated with the local community that caters to walks of life that live and travel through Junction City.
That aside, drinks: I only had the Cadillac Ranch Sour. I'm a huge fan of sour based ales and with the blend of pineapple and strawberry made the drink my instant favorite. It's light, crisp, not at all filling and had a beautiful light golden brown hue that was a sight to see.
Food: Due to 726 Bistro not available, I'll update this review later on. The Mill pizza was incredible! Even more pleased for the 'build your own pizza' since my child is so picky. While my daughter didn't outright say she loved it, she left nothing behind for leftovers. I ordered the Flint Hills Burn because I love spicy food but more importantly test out what they've called their signature pizza. Due to the large volume of people ordering, at the time all they had left was the gluten free dough. I bring this up because they are accommodating for allergies but also being transparent about their stock and product availability. This wasn't an issue for my child and I, and gave me another reason to visit as soon as possible for a different experience. The Flint Hills Burn with thin GF crust is incredibly delicious but also was similar to my drink selection: flavorful yet not too filling. Until I go back, this will be my favorite food item. Will post an update once the 726 Bistro is open.
Price: Between the location, rate of speed, quality of services that's both great for a family dinner environment as well as just a speak easy, the price was honestly fair. It's worth the experience, tastes...
Read moreI started my review before actually having a meal and seeing the prices and whatnot. For the soft opening they only had pizza available and the pizza was almost like Pizza Hut pizza. It definitely was never very good. And then when we got the check the prices were really really high and in addition to being high priced they added gratuity automatically for two people which I've never seen in my life before. Now I've seen places at gratuity if you have like six or eight people but not just two people and the amount of gratuity was excessive considering how much service you receive from the people. They don't have servers so nobody comes and takes your order. You have to go up and order your food. Either pick it up or somebody will bring it to you at some point. But it took one of our people in my group of three who picked up her own check. It took her 45 minutes to get her pizza. The check for two people and we had pizza, salads, I had a cocktail and my friend had a beer flight which was four different types of beers and our check was almost $100 so the place is very nice. It looks wonderful. I certainly wish them the best of luck but they're going to have to drop the prices and they're going to have to stop adding gratuity automatically. I found that shocking and ridiculous
Here for the soft opening. Very nice place. Nice atmosphere a welcomed edition to Junction City which needs more places like this
Just wanted to note for you. I appreciate your reply. I understand it's a soft opening. You still got a long way to go and get things in order. I don't know what other people thought. I know the three people in my party. We all threw our pizza away. Everyone of us. And gratuity was added to our check and our friends check who is with us. So I don't know what to tell you about that. But I appreciate you...
Read moreEdit: Highwind commented on this review and asked for a second chance. Normally I am all about forgiveness and letting things slide, once anyway. Not this time however. As someone with some mental issues from my time overseas, sometimes a very loud environment is too much to bear. When I asked to have my food switched to a to-go because the place was too loud and was causing me discomfort, the older woman told me "You should get your messed up mental problems fixed." That I should be happy to be in their loud restaurant with poor food that is sorely under-decorated and echoes like a stadium. Okay. That is me just being mean but the rest still stands. I encourage all veterans to avoid this place. Making fun of someone's disabilities who served this country is unforgivable.
I've never had a worse burger in my life. I have traveled to 13 different countries and been to 41 of the states in the U.S and nothing compares. Burnt and tasteless, it is apparent this place is still trying to find its legs. The atmosphere is loud and echoes entire conversations throughout. It is drab and uninviting with rude employees demanding tips at each of the three counters. If you are military you will be at odds against the staff here as they make it a point to tell you their distaste for the Army. I am not sure which timeline of America Highwind Brewing Company is from, but its along the worst one. Thanos please snap and delete this place. We...
