Bomba's BBQ Kalamazoo — Restaurant in Kalamazoo

Me and 3 of my friends went at about 3:18 today, April 19th. On the outside, I thought the building looked nice with a nice sign out front. I was familiar with them as I had been to rip fest multiple times so I already had a good idea of their logo but I still think its quite a nice design. As we went in, we were greeted at the door and were able to smell the meaty barbeque being cooked up in the back. The menu looked nice with a broad selection of items. I opted for Bombas burger as I had never tried it. My friends got the loaded hot dog (I don’t remember the name) and the ribs. The ribs were juicy and tender and the burger was amazing. I personally love a burger with all the toppings possible and I got the bacon and bbq for an extra $2/ I felt the prices were reasonable and the wait was not bad. We waited for about 15-20 minutes for food but it felt like much less as we were playing games as we waited. Me and one of my friends sat and played chess as the other 2 waited on their phones. The inside was not the nicest I’ve seen but overall not bad, just could maybe use some decorating and a paint job. I went to this restaurant for the first time on a Friday. It was clean but empty and the cashier was nice. I ordered the rib tips dinner that came with two sides and the total was $15.90. After a somewhat reasonable wait I took my food to go and within 5 minutes I was home. When I opened the box I was very underwhelmed. The ribs tips tasted just barely ok and the portion size was terrible considering the pieces were mostly fat. For my sides I got their version of street corn and jalapeño Mac n cheese. The corn was so over seasoned and tart it puckered my face and was completely inedible. I asked my son to try it but he refused because he’s “never seen me make a face like that while I was eating”. The mac n cheese tasted terrible with all the chopped jalapeños pieces sitting right on top. I mixed some in to take a bite. The Mac and cheese was obviously from a box and it was sloppily made and tasted terrible. This was the worst meal I’ve gotten from a restaurant that I can remember. Do not waste your time and money like I did. I would absolutely not recommend...

Visited Bombas for the first time tonight. I have finally found my BBQ place! After several attempts to find the right BBQ restaurant, I thought I was out of luck. Tonight was a surprise celebration of a perfect BBQ establishment! I ordered the rib tips with the sweet bbq sauce, the "burnt ends fries", and bbq beans. I also got a piece of their homemade jalapeño corn bread.

Rib tips: phenomenal! Tender, juicy, meaty and plenty of sauce. Definitely a must have

Burnt ends fries: surprisingly delicious! These are made in heaven's kitchen, I swear! French fries loaded with brisket burnt ends, sweet bbq sauce, and a crazy good cheese sauce. I highly recommend this!

Bbq beans: very good mix of black beans and pinto beans with bbq sauce and other seasonings.

Jalapeño corn bread: I wished I had bought more than one. Best I've ever had!

I will be returning often. I can't recommend Bombas...
