Taco Mexico Restaurant — Restaurant in Kalispell

Went with my husband for an early dinner. He is Hispanic so knows his food. Their flavor profiles are closer to Mexican than you'll find elsewhere, that is 4 star. Salsa, fresh chips, good green sauce. Now on to the detractions. They nickel and dime you - chips and salsa aren't cheap, fountain drink refills also not free. While we don't mind paying for good food, it is not truly ethnic Mexican to feel like they are weighing your dollars. The portions are small. Again coming from a Hispanic family full of food and expansive meals, it felt like they believed the fact they are more authentic gives them the right to overcharge and under serve. I actually asked for and talked to the owner before we left adm advised her that her friendly vibe would improve with a few of these changes, along with increasing her true authenticity. Just moved to bigfork and wanted some Mexican food so we picked this place so we didn't have to drive to Polson or Kalispell. Busy little place. We shouldn't have sat where we did I guess due to they had a big pot of beans on the floor and one of the workers were blending them up and then a worker stepped over the pot while the the worker was blending them up. There was a big pan of rice sitting on top of 6 coke boxes with nothing covering it. The food didn't really have any taste but was very hott thou like cooking wise. Waitress didn't check on us until about the time we were ready to leave about refills. Waitress knocked our leftovers off on the floor and picked them up and put them back on the table. This is the place in Bigfork to go if you want some authentic Mexican food. Thankfully Taco Mexico exists because if it didn't, the Flathead Valley would only have bad tex-mex. The waitstaff is wonderful and considering how busy the restaurant is, handle themselves with maximum efficiency and speed. The food itself is literally too good for Montana, it is exactly what you want when you eat Mexican food. The outside seating is lovely, the interior is stylized in the way that you'd exactly expect. They also serve Modelo which just adds to this already glowing review. In addition to all of these things, the bathroom itself is worthy of the Pope.
