Osteria Bianci is a true diamond. With 100% transparency, I am an Executive Chef by trade and had the pleasure of sharing a dinner with my Executive Sous Chef and our better halves. We wanted to try something new instead of the same old places. This led us to Osteria Bianci. The owners Kelly and Josh are classically trained Chefs and their menu, culture and vision represents what every "Foodie" could expect when visiting a restaurant of this calibre. It's all just simply...welcoming!
The restaurant itself is VERY inviting when you walk in. The atmosphere was alive and buzzing with the restaurant being full, people at the bar having drinks, conversation flowing while servers whisked around and the kitchen pumped out dishes it made for a very vibrant environment. There is outdoor seating and while it was cool last night, they have the heaters out there to snuggle up on a sofa with a cocktail or enjoy your meal al fresco.
We started with a few cocktails at the bar while waiting for our reservation. The bartenders with super friendly and executed brilliantly with our asks. The drink/wine menu were not daunting with hundreds of selections, it was dialed in and and the selections met every need.
The server came and got us when our table was ready and we settled in for what we hoped would be a fantastic meal. Being chefs, we kind of don't do the order one dish per person thing, we like to share in a family meal type thing. So we order a few to a lot of each course.
Keep in mind that Chef Josh has a very local and farm to table approach to his Italian cooking. Literally everything is made from scratch, which was music to our ears as our server went through the menu with us.
We started with the Foccacia which baked fresh daily was to die for!! We also had the Antipasto tray and the grilled sunchokes and the Charred shishito peppers were a perfect compliment to the prosciutto, salami and mortadella. Lastly we had my personal favorite the Chicken Nduja Meatballs which had just the right amount of spiciness to them to leave Wishing you had ordered a second serving of them. Anyway, it was a great beginning.
I should mention that the seating is spread perfectly apart to where conversations become white noise while not being intrusive to your own tables conversation.
We moved on to our pasta course as we skipped pizza to save it for next time. We literally had all five pasta options. I will say that the favorite of the table was the Caccuicco which if you like seafood was the perfect dish. We also really liked the Triangolini, but I am a Butternut Squash maniac...loooove it! All pasta dishes were great and would recommend all of them but those two really stood out. The pasta is made fresh daily in house and you can tell...sooooo good!
We added two entrees to our pasta party as well. We had the Branzino which is one of my absolute favorite mediterranean seafood. Flaky and crispy skin with the cauliflower puree was perfect. We also had the Duck which came with a large portion of duck which was impressive and welcomed as we all devoured that as well. It's was enough to share so those two entrees with five pasta dishes was perfect.
As we all sat there marveling at our own impressive gluttony I took the liberty of ordering one of each dessert. All were super delicious with the super rock star being the Olive Oil Cake...now I will tell you that I have made this cake many times on menus I've written in the past but I believe somewhere back in that Kitchen, Chef Josh has his grandmother making this dish with an old world recipe that would be hard to beat, let alone replicate. The desserts, and especially the Olive Oil Cake were the perfect finish to a very impressive meal.
My final recommendation would be, step away from the chain restaurants, take the drive and enjoy scratch made cooking by this Chef team. You will not be disappointed...We will be back as the menu changes seasonally so I can't wait to see what comes next, just make sure that Olive Oil Cake is still...

"OB is serving food that's better than Travis Kelce's engagement to #TSwift" -Wendy Werley-Williams.
This quote is infinitely amazing. It is now ™️ and registered to Wendy Werley as of this date 🙏
May update: The level of service and care is just incredible. We ordered each of the pastas to taste and of course their remarkable focaccia bread that's literally better than that of a Michelin star restaurant. But I have to go back to the superb service because it's truly the heart of this family of award winning Chef's (Kelly and Josh). We're lucky to have Ostrria Bianchi in KC, especially the Liberty area of KC.
February update: This is an incredible restaurant putting out authentic Italian with a focaccia bread that took years to perfect. Literally the consistency of the food quality and service is extremely special for the Northland.
NYE dinner event: Italian wagyu, White truffles, oysters and caviar....need anything more to be said💯💪
Fall update: Wine dinner party was incredible🎉
August update: The summer menu was incredible and had a sneak peak at the late summer menu. Best in KC. Period.
June update: I think the video clips of tonight's pasta perfection speaks volumes ❤️❤️❤️
May update: Come on people ....if you don't order all 5 homemade pasta dishes just to taste a bit of each and enjoy the rest for lunch/dinner later in the week then I must say you're missing out. This was our 5th time back and the place was packed (on a Wednesday!!!). Glad we made a reservation and didn't chance it.
Bottom line: this is "THE" best authentic northern Italian pasta outside of Italy. Again, order all 5 pastas and taste the depth in sauce along with the homemade al dente pasta. Lights out. Way to go Chef👏👏👏
April Update: 4th time back. The homemade pastas all have a depth of flavor found in the finest Italian restaurants. The ricotta gnocchi was an impressive addition we've not come across and made for a delicious shareable that had our table wanting more. However, the tortellini is the best in KC, Chicago or Boston's Northend. The food is so delicious and photos say it all🤤😋❤️
March update: We're really fortunate Liberty / North of the River....we just landed one of great chef duos in the country right here in west Liberty (west of 35). Literally the food is off the charts perfect-o. Book your reservation because it's not going to be easy to get in here real soon.
Just read the about us section of the website and you'll see why this place is putting out the...
Read moreI saw this place on one the Liberty community page and everyone was talking it up so we had to try it. My wife and I loved it! We sat outside on the patio, which was really nice and shaded. The inside looked cozy and comfortable too. It felt like a little Italian place should. (IMO) We had a few drinks, which were delicious but a bit pricey... Or maybe we just had too many? Lol. For an appetizer we shared the Hamachi Crudo, it had yellow tail along with several different veggies on a bed of this Delicious pureed celery root. It was amazing, fresh and light, great way to start. For entrees My Wife had the casoncelli which was very delicious. Perfect little raviolis that had braised lamb with a nice little cheese sauce on it. It was delicious. I had a lasagna type dish where there were three three rolled up pasta stuffed with Bolognese and had a nice San marzano tomato sauce. That was also amazing. We were also serve the focaccia bread which was perfect, nice and airy and we had a dessert called polenta budino. The dessert wasn't too sweet and was a perfect ending to the meal. The waitress, I believe her name was Rachel? (Sorry) She was very knowledgeable and was amazing!! She was able to describe all the dishes, had recommendations, and was really friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The only thing, and this might be just being a little too picky, but we thought that the serving sizes for The pasta was just slightly too little. Like if my wife's would have had a few more raviolis and if mine had just even one more roll they would have been perfect. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place and we totally plan...
