We looked at several places to try. Pier 88 had the steamed bags of seafood, sausage and vegetables that we were looking for. We looked at reviews and was a little hesitant to go, but we decided to try it. 100% glad we did! The location is in a weird spot for a seafood restaurant, but it was comfortable inside. The decor was neet, and you could even write your name on the wall throughout the restaurant. Ok now to get the the good stuff. We were seated right away. We were given our menus to review and our waitress was right out to get our drink order! The prices were average for a place like this. I decided to order the Famous Low Boil Country boil as well as my fiance. It came with 1/2lb crab legs, 1/2lb shrimp, 1/2 slices of sausage, 1 corn on the cob , 1 boiled egg and 1 small potatoe..i also ordered 3 extra potatoes. Then you get to choose your seasoning and your level of spice! I chose the "all the above Spice" which is all the spices put together, and my spice level at medium. Our waitress was very kind and I couldn't believe how fast we got our food. They brought us a bugget that was full of all kinds of stuff, it had crab crackers, bibs, gloves, napkins, plastic wear and hand wipes. We put the bibs and gloves on, BELIEVE me you will need them! We opened our bags served on a metal tray also for your use. The food at a glance looked amazing, at first it don't look like allot until you start eating. The 1 cluster is crab you get was cooked just right, it was easy to Crack, they were not soggy, the meat came right out, it was juicy and tender, so yummy dipped in the extra garlic butter they give you, the crab meat was so sweet. Great crab. The shrimp were no heads and easy peal, already cut for you on top, the shrimp were plump and juicy, very good dipped in the sauce in the bag. The sausage had the best flavor ever! Everything was so good with the sauce in the bag, (btw, I loved the all the above spice at medium heat ") it was amazing. The potatoes were bigger then I expected, they were not tiny, good size. The potatoes were cooked perfect. The boiled egg was great touch, it was amazing cut up in the sauce. And then the sausage, there was quite a bit of sausage, it had an amazing flavor, everything I ate I dipped in the seasoning sauce in the bag. So to wrap this up, our waitress was so sweet and nice, on top of everything, thane service, I can not wait to go back! e food was AMAZING ! Great food great service, we will definitely be...
Read moreWe received a coupon in the mail for the grand opening of Pier 88 Boiling Seafood & Bar. I love boiled seafood and its not the easiest thing to locate the Midwest and the selection isn't the best when you can find it. I spend a lot of time in the Chesapeake bay area and I'm spoiled on their seafood. I had high hopes. I'm very fond of shellfish and was excited to see they had oysters on the half shell and steamed clams. The menu isn't the best they don't tell you what type of shellfish species are being served and the server was clueless The exception was for the clams they served, Manila clams (small clams) and the other was just listed as clams.. They were served by the pound. I asked for a guess on how many clams came in a pound and she didn't know. I asked what type of clam was being served she didn't know so I took a chance and ordered 2 lbs of clam with the Pier 88 Seasoning. When they were served steamed, they were tiny clams, smaller that I had ever seen. There should have been a picture of them in the menu I was expecting larger clams like Little Necks about 3 inch in size as I have been served on the east coast., and over half of the clams in the bag were still closed meaning they hadn't steamed them long enough or they were dead... not good. I ask for a manager and explained that the clams hadn't been steamed long enough so she took them back and cooked up another order for me. Even though they were small they were very tasty and the seasoning was very good, much like a Chesapeake east coast seasoning. The potatoes and corn were very good also.. Our service wasn't the best, for some reason left mid service and the person who took over wasn't attentive we had to flag down the manager for more tea and for our check.. It wasn't the best experience but I will probable try them out again. It's a new joint and they are probably on a...
Read moreThis was my first time at the restaurant my friend recommended it because they have happy hour on Sundays. I had a terrible experience. The food was good I give it a 7/10 but it wasn’t worth all the drama that came with it. Not even 1 drink in I was told we were too loud,I really wanted to leave right then I didn’t feel welcomed but my friend wanted another drink we stayed longer and I regret it. I haven’t seen my friend in a while so we had a lot to catch up on and were excited to be in each other space. Another guy came around to our table and told us we were loud again. I understand this is a place of business but we spent our money just like every one else and we deserve grace and understanding. No customer is more important than the other it felt like we were getting picked on. We weren’t screaming yelling dancing or singing none of that we even asked the table behind us were we bothering them.If you are selling $6 Long Island and Margaritas people volumes are going to naturally rise people are going to enjoy themselves and it won’t be silent or even close to it. It felt like I was in another country Europe to be exact where it’s a known rule to basically have to speak above a whisper I say all this to say Pierr 88 will never see me again. My family goes there often and I will be putting a stop to that. My friend went to the front to talk to the guy and he kept saying “it’s not you it’s her” pointing at me and singling me out when we are together. I left extremely upset and I won’t be back. I also got so sick so do with that information...
