I’m new in town, and heard such great things about the establishment. I have been Vegan over twenty years. I go for good Vegan food not popularity, or fads. Good Vegan food is important to me. I was assured the food was amazing, service slow. I ordered seasonal Jerk Bowl with Jerk tofu. Although we were the only patrons at the time, it took a substantial amount time to get my meal. The meal had a great texture, but tasted like tasteless cardboard, with a dash of pepper. It was somewhat visually appealing, but not palatable. I actually threw the food away, and went to an amazing restaurant called Cafe Gratitude. I was very grateful they saved my dinner!!!! Waste of time, and money. It was a sad, traumatic meal for me. Just because it is Vegan does not mean it should lack taste, seasoning, etc. Veganism is so versatile, this restaurant is on the lower end of the Vegan spectrum. P.S. The brownie was okay. 14Jul24Edit: Thank you for the standard practice, offer to remake the bowl. I have no desire to come to your facility, after the lengthy, slight filled response (from the owner) to my honest review of my encounter. It is not my job, as I am not part of your marketing/development team to give pointers on how to elevate the taste of what I ordered. Side note I’m allergic to pineapples, and removed them from the dish. I’m sure the citizens of Kansas City love your food, as they have limited Vegan options. Having lived in New York, Boston, and the Dallas/Fort Worth areas, I have become accustomed to a certain level of fresh Vegan options from different ethnic groups, and American fare. Again thank you for the offer, I humbly decline. I do not feel comfortable coming to your facility, and would not recommend anyone there. Have an...
Read moreMy family of 6 stopped in while we were walking around in the area. Because my name is Ruby we thought it was funny. We were all disappointed. The atmosphere was great which is why I gave it more than one star. But the price of the smoothies was horrible. I can't imagine why it was so much. There was no choice of sizes and its not like any ingredients that went in were anything expensive. I had always thought smoothie King was expensive but this was even worse! We spent 30 bucks on 4 smoothies! I had thought after looking at the prices, these smoothies better be the best I have ever had. Sadly, all three fell flat. My grandma and I got the same one and we both agreed it was flavorless and missing some kind of body to it. I cant remember what it was called but it was the first on on the menu. My little sister got the PB&J one and she seemed to like it but everyone else that tried it only tasted peanut butter and did not like it at all. My mom who got the Cherry one and is a huge fan of cherry couldn't even finish hers. After seeing all the positive reviews about this place I am sad we didn't have a better experience. Perhaps the smoothies just aren't the best thing on the menu. But as I work close by I was hoping to find a fabulous smoothie place and that...
Read moreWas the unfortunate recipient of a catered meal from this establishment. If you are the type of person who is into non-food type food, the other reviews would suggest this is definitely the place for you. My critique is from the perspective of a meat and potatoes sort of guy so take it with a grain of salt, or if of a similar pallet, a whole shaker of salt. The lunch I received contained a small portion of a sandwich, a cup of fruit and a brown gelatinous cube. The sandwich was 1/4 of a BLT but the B I’m pretty sure isn’t actual bacon. The L definitely wasn't lettuce. There was 1/2 a slice of tomato and the whole thing is covered in what looks to have been fresh squeezed baby diaper. Served ice cold of course. Even if this is the sort of thing you are into, it won't be enough to sate a midwestern sized appetite. That being said I didn't exactly feel like eating any more after cramming as much of this confection down my gullet as I could muster. The cube of Soylent brown had a nice bitter, dark chocolate aftertaste which was overshadowed by whatever fibrous substance held it together. The cup of fruit was a nice variety of 1/2 a strawberry, a few red grapes, blueberries and couple small chunks...
