If you needed a reason to love this bookstore, I am about to provide it!

I live in Wisconsin and UTC was hosting an author I LOVE! Missing out on a preorder she had, I had to throw a Hail Mary to see if they could make some magic happen and OMG did they! They let me purchase a ticket to the event, where they had the author personalize and sign a copy of the book for me! Now, they don't normally ship out books for these types of events because they are meant to be in person, however, due to the circumstances they were willing to. But it doesn't stop there, no their staff being the AMAZING people they are were willing to do this for me. Yet, there is another twist, welcome to the book world people... My MIL just so happened to be driving back home from Texas, this same day. An she was willing to stop at UTC to pick up, my signed book on her way through. So, what does the owner due.. SHE HAS IT READY TO GO so my MIL did not have to wait an could continue you on her drive back to WI.

Adore everything about this place! The owner, the atmosphere, the books! it's so positive and comfortable to be there. (not that I'd ever admit such a silly anxiety out loud but) the first time i went with friends i was a bit shy and even scared that I'd feel out of place as a trans masc person looking for some fun spicy monster romance books, but the owner treated me just like anyone else and made me feel safe and welcome! i ended up tidying up some book displays for her out of nervousness at first and she was completely fine with it 😂 ofc gotta love that the owner can say almost whatever the hell she wants bc whos gonna fire her? herself? it makes interactions feel more personal since she doesnt really have to do the customer service works against her will and can bring as much sass into a conversation as she wants. which is honestly what i wish all retail people could do. plus its big support to local authors and other authors who otherwise wouldnt ever get the love they deserve bc big corporate bookstores wont carry their books. on top of that she sells things made by individual artists! i got some gorgeous earrings from there. I definitely plan on going back very soon and dragging another friend here! definitely a new...

This is a fun, lively bookstore that has truly embraced its identity as a home for romantics of all kinds. I came at the suggestion of friends who are avid romance readers, something that I am not. Since I don’t read the genre, I was worried I would feel out of place, but the beaming faces of people discovering new releases alongside the cheeky accessories and decor easily persuaded me to stay longer. And I’m glad I did! Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned connoisseur, you’ll find that this shop carries pretty much every sub-genre of romance out there. There are reading suggestions listed on the shelves themselves, as well as a section dedicated to local authors. The space is truly a judgement-free zone, so you can pick up whatever you’re curious about and find a new title for your reading list. And of course, the staff can happily suggest books that might pique your interest.
