The food was incredible and the portions were huge! I’ve been a vegan for a long time and this may be the best vegan food I’ve had. I got the breakfast burrito, highly recommend, and my partner got the chicken fried chicken. She absolutely loved hers as well. I seriously considered going back to the counter to confirm that it was actually vegan, and not some mix up where I read the menu wrong. It was that good. My gigantic burrito came drenched in queso and sour cream. It was fried to absolute perfection and almost bursting at the seams with delectable goodness. The sides were breakfast potatoes and mexican rice. The potatoes were to die for, but the rice stole the show. It’s made with citrus and cilantro, then fried up on the flat top. It was crunchy in the best way and honestly surprised me with how good the texture and flavors mixed together. My partners chicken fried chicken made her doubt that it was actually vegan as well. She frantically googled it very quickly after taking the first bite. She said she hasn’t tasted anything like that in years. We both tried bites of each others food, so I can say I totally agreed with her there. The gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans were excellent. The mashed potatoes were fluffy, the green beans crisp, and the gravy was just delicious and just the right texture. You know that scene in Ratatouille, when the food critic gets transported back to his moms kitchen? Well, it was kind of like that. I was back in my grandmother’s kitchen when I tasted the gravy. Just an absolute treat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They asked us what we liked when we ordered drinks, and offered recommendations based on that. And they were pinpoint accurate with their suggestions. I loved my London fog they made for me with their suggested customizations. I really can’t recommend The Fix! enough. It was a super laid back atmosphere, and like I said, the...
Read moreThe service, well they try, but had what felt like a rehearsed reply when discussing the NON-VEGAN ingredients.
The atmosphere, it is dark and a little run down.
As mentioned earlier, the ingredients they use are NOT vegan as a whole. Due to my allergies, even though they pride themselves on being completely vegan, I asked many questions. By admission, the staff stated, and I quote, “Many people would consider regular AP flour and regular sugar to be vegan”, which sounded like a rehearsed statement that they had been told to say when anyone inquired about these ingredients. I continued the questions, as I was really looking forward to eating some of what they advertised they had to offer on the “vegan” menu. After long discussion, they had only one option on the menu that I could eat, and turns out, that was not a true vegan option, as I got very ill yesterday after eating what I was told was safe.
The best they can consider themselves to be at this point, is “Primarily Plant Based”.
I am NOT leaving this review to be mean or hateful, but to help others so they do not have a bad experience like I did.
We chose the restaurant due to the advertisement of being a “100% Vegan” restaurant. As advised by the staff, “No chance of cross contamination”, however, they are knowingly, willingly, and purposefully contaminated the food by using mammal derived ingredients.
However, if you are not a devout vegan, or someone that has significant food allergies as I, then this could possibly be the place for you. My son stated they have the best Crunchwrap Supreme that he has ever tasted, even better than Taco Bell. His words were… “Deliciously on point!”
I don’t believe it would take much for this restaurant to do the homework to become a true vegan option. I pray they do the homework and make the changes necessary before they...
Read moreEDIT, as of 3/15/20: Went back with my girlfriend again. She got panang curry and I got the french toast. She really liked her curry and the French toast was great. Speedy service as well! This time to me was a 5 star visit and I would come again to try something from the lunch portion.
May change my rating when I visit again, but for now to me it’s 3/5 stars. I decided it’s easier to divide into pros and cons.
Pros: All vegan!!! Yay! Very pretty environment, clean, well-kept Lunch portions seem well worth their price (I was sneaking looks at those burgers!) Love the menu items when glancing over. Had a hard time deciding Plenty of street parking down the roads Taste of the biscuits and gravy was great; I can definitely understand the hype for it
Cons: Slightly pricy for portion of biscuits and gravy (although I could be wrong. If it’s made from cashews, it makes sense) They rung up my biscuits and gravy to have sausage when I asked, but it didn’t come out with sausage crumbles in it. Breakfast potatoes still didn’t come after 15-20? minutes from my biscuits. I decided not to wait for them after I ate Biscuits and gravy was a bit cold. Chips for nachos were stale and thick. Not many beans or corn on it according to my girlfriend. Mostly just the nacho cheese, sour cream, the guac, and big pieces of pico.
I did go today on a Saturday and they were pretty busy right when we got in, but it cleared out quick after that. I think the biggest thing for me was just that I would like for food to come out around a close time frame if it’s the side to the main. I think I overheard someone else having trouble with this sort of thing too (everyone getting their food except for one).
Overall, I think I will try it again on a weekday and alter my...
