Hi Fresh Karma Midtown!! Service industry worker here— , as much as it pains me to leave a negative review, I must deliver my own Sindustry version of “fresh karma”—
Me and my friend ordered product online to be picked up via Drive-Thru service— I was eager to show my visiting-from-out-of-town friend the Stoner Crossing. Anyway, we arrived behind another car at around 10:01 excited to see no line at the drive thru (yay!!)
note: i thought the store closed at 11– i haven't been to this location in quite some time because From the Earth is a walkable distance from me —
Anyway, we pull forward ID and payment in hand ready to pick up the product—
Kristina K verbatim in a condescending, louder than face to face conversational tone, INTO A MICROPHONE says, “NEXT TIME can u guys come when we’re actually open???”
I say, “I thought y’all were open until 11…” I was then informed by Kristina that FK closes at 10:00 and I apologize letting them know “i did not have that knowledge…”
I glance at the dash— 10:03… valid, I guess. I look to my friend and say, “Do u think there was a nicer way to say that??”
Matter of fact, I would have been okay being turned away as long as I was informed politely. but OKAY
The time comes to tip and obviously, I entered a FAT ZERO bc what the hell am I even tipping for, on such a frivolous purchase at that…..I even selected my own product online? hmm. Maybe, had I been offered grace instead of some matter-of-factly stank energy, I would have felt more inclined to tip considering Kristina was doing us a favor by holding the window—Fresh Karma was closed after all. I completely understand the concept of rules and policy and would have been happy with picking up tomorrow.
What i would like Kristina K and Fresh Karma to know is simply put:
Service workers (operate word bering SERVICE) who treat guests in a manner that we were treated at FK tonight are the EXACT proponent in why the tipping industry has become so diluted and dry over the past few years.
Finally, being off work on a Saturday night is rare for me, however, I am now understanding why I am having more tip-reluctant guests and having to over-extend hospitality to show guests that I genuinely want to take care of them, and I deserve the little extra love on top for all my efforts. I also enjoy being on the receiving end of service and hospitality— especially after dedicating so much of my self to providing the perfect vibes for your girls night out, or grad party dinner, etc & etc.
I hope yall can do better bc I have always enjoyed working Fresh Karmas events and big-ing up the brand. Always remember, tips are never guaranteed but known to be greatly appreciated and received. Kindness, empathy, and understanding, are free to give with immeasurable reward. Aka What goes around, Comes around.

Read moreI wanted to love Fresh Karma, but I’ve noticed lately that while their wonderful staff is immaculately skilled and knowledgeable in their industry, they seem to be lacking their spark lately.
Maybe it’s because the credit card machines are inconsistent. They seem to be having issues more than they ever work and if it’s inconvenient for me as a customer, I can imagine it would be inconvenient for the employees as well. I’d rather pay with cash than deal with the yes-no-maybe-so of the machines or pay the heinous transaction fees.
While we’re on inconsistency, let’s talk about their stock. I would love to walk in confident that I’ll walk out with what I came in for, but that’s not often the case. Their inventory selection is just not hitting the bar for me. With the Panda gummies as bitter as they are, I’d love to see them bring back Missouri’s Own (or WYLD?…or Flora Farms?…or like any of the brands they did away with?).
