This place is not worth the hassle. We had two different papers for our table and I specifically told the waitress that this paper is the ordee for my daughter and I and the othwr paper is theres. Needless to say all of our food came out mixed together. The waitress clearly didn't know whuch sushi was which because half way through the plates I asked her did we have more coming and she said yes. She brought out two more plates of food and said that was all. I advised her that I ordered 10 rolls and only received 5. She told me that the other rolls were on the table and attempted to decipher which ones they were again. Mind you we asked her which rolls were which as she put them down. She decided to bring ua our tickets and I told her which ones I had received. She then webt to the back and came back and said that all of the rolls were brought out. Od corse by that time the other side of table had eaten what they believed to be theirs.
I asked for a manager and they attempted to make it our fault and told me that we should've communicated better. I told them that the reason foe rhe two tixkets was to place two seperate orders and not to have all of rhe food merged together; furthermore I have a Master's in Communication, so I doubt if that was the issue.
They took a measly $11.00 off of my bil which still brought me to $74.00 for 5 rolls. The building was hot and as mentioned by others tables were left dirty by previous customers. I'll stick to Mint Sushi in...
Read moreA group of 6 of us went to eat here last Friday night (12/02/16). When we were sat down, the restaurant was maybe a third full, and never exceeded that number of capacity. Long story short, the only thing that saved us from walking out was the quality of the food. It took over 30 minutes just to get our drinks, and over an hour and a half to start getting our food. The wait staff there was not even busy, and had but a few tables that each one of them had to watch.
The tables that the customers left during our stay were left dirty -- no one bothered or attempted to clean them up. Our server only showed up to our table when she wanted to it seemed, as our table was left dirty as well. When the chef finally came, he apologized to us, cooked us some great food, and kept the saki coming to our table. While we were thankful for the food and saki (and tipped the chef appropriately), we were very disappointed in the rest of the service. We left a tip that reflected this, and when the person in our party checked his previous billing statement, the tip that we left vs. what was actually charged was completely different - Moonlight charged us more than what was left.
Overall, very disappointed with this place. The only reason they get one star is because the food and chef were good. Won't be going here again anytime...
Read moreEVERY restaurant starts with five stars, in my book, according to my expectations of the meal. First, we walked in and it smelled strongly of fried foods. It was so bad that your smell stale and nasty after you leave. This results from not properly ventilating the kitchen, especially the fryer. I get it, you save money from not operating the HVAC to heat/cool outside air but, for me, it is unacceptable; lose two stars. The service was a little slow, but mostly friendly, but the sushi took more than 20 minutes. Most of the sushi and other food was good, even very good. Now, I've eaten sushi at least 20 times in Japan as well as all over the world, and hundreds of times in the US. When I mentioned to the waitress that the taste and consistency of the Tobiko was off (flying fish roe), my concerns were dismissed with no offer to take if off the bill. She made an excuse that it is something they sold a lot so it couldn't be bad. It had dripped orange water all over the plate (through the rice) and had a taste that made me not eat the second piece. It was FAR off the norm for this dish. The dismissive response of the waitress lost the restaurant another star. A minor irritation is that EVERYTHING on the dinner menu is al a carte, with no combo specials. We won't be back and we don't recommend trying Moonlight Sushi...
